What is this writing under my hood?

I just bought a Lightning. On the plastic piece that spans accross the opening of the hood (plastic piece with the stickers of the pulley assembly) there is a number reading T-2436 written what looks like yellow crayon or marker. It is right there in large hand written print. Anyone ever see this before???

Sounds more like a junk yard identifier - you sure the truck hasn't been in an accident ??

The previous owner more than likely replace the part. It could have been from an accident or just wanted to replace it because it was weathered or torn. Those type of markings you find on junkyard pieces. Either way, check with who sold you the truck.

Im pretty sure your truck wasnt sitting in a junk yard or else you prolly would not own it at the moment because it would have been stripped for parts in no time and to expensive to fix. The piece was probally just purchased from a wrecked Lightning in a Junk Yard Somewhere. Do a VIN number search for an accident report on your truck to see if anything comes up to be safe. Accident reports dont always tell you about every accident because alot go unreported to insurance companies but still a good thing to do before or shortly after you bought the truck.

That number could also represent an Auction Identification Number. Alot of vehichles that go onto dealer lots are purchased from auto auctions. Usually they write the numbers on the windows but maybe they decided to do it under the hood. Id call whoever you got the truck from and ask about it.
