X 16 A/F meter reading crazy
X 16 A/F meter reading crazy
Not throwing codes , just reading from 5 to max , guy said I needed a new o2 sensor , got the new one in today and its still reading all over the place .
It will cal and reset , shows the heat #'s , usually up to 68 .
The #'s on the replacement o2 were the same , hooked right up , ( got it direct from Mfg )
Thanks,
SC

Found some info on Innovatives formuns , I pulled out the o2 from the bung and disconnected the harness and let the truck run for about 20 - 30 seconds then after turning off the truck , reinstalled the o2 in the bung and hooked the harness back up and it finally did the heater cal. and now its reading better , still showing 17 - 18 on idle ? but at least its reading something now , seems to hit 12 - 14 when revving more than Idle . Guess my old o2 may still be good ? Maybe doing the above before getting a new one may save someone $ 93 bucks !

Had a similiar problem for the past few weeks. I was getting the heater warmup count then it would go to HC (heater calibration) 9 and count down to 1 then the readings would be from 20.9 to 7.4 and continually bounce between those two extemes. I have talked with Innovate tech support to both Fellippe and Cort many times !
Here was my problem. Grounds followed by the power wire. Grounding is critical on the LC-1. Power wire is also somewhat critical. I will say that Innovate tech support and customer service is TOP NOTCH !!
The heater ground should be separate from the system and analog grounds. They should be grounded to the same point but kept separated. The calibration wire SHOULD NOT be able to be grounded if you are using the XD gauge. I don't use the analog in wires so they are also taped off as is the calibration wire.
If you changed the O2 sensor you should perform a "first time" calibration. That may be why your readings are off. The "first time" calibration will include a free air calibration for the O2 sensor. I made a hard copy of the instruction manual and put it in a notebook to have for reference. If, by chance, you don't have it you can find the manual for the XD and LC-1 on Innovate's website I think.
The O2 sensor itself is a standard VW part which Innovate lists in their manual on the LC-1. It's only around $30 for one so I hope the $93 bux you're talkin' about wasn't the price you paid for an O2 sensor ?

Of course I paid $93 bucks for it
I figured it was a "special" one made to work only with the x 16 unit .
Its the only one they had on their website under replacement parts .
Now that I have some numbes off of it I can go shopping next time .
Thanks for the help Scott , much appreciated .
