Downs filter gives me .2 and 4 MPH 13.18 @ 104
I had posted last week looking for MPH my best time was a 13.35 @ 100 with a chip and a pulley . I installed a downs filter wed. night went to the track and went 13.18 @ 104 in much worse air than my previous best. The 1.88 60ft felt good but the 104MPH felt great. No question she will go in the 12's on slicks

As a former Downs tube and filter user, be careful of the filter rubbing. I found the support provided to be inadequete and, despite my best efforts, could not keep the filter from rubbing.
Just my .02.

Change your filter (only) to big mouth or psp style with convex filter media pointed to fender inlet hole, add a JL ram air kit or homemade ram kit, depending which you have more of (time or money), to feed that filter, and you are in the 12's on stock rubber (in winter air)
do you JL's phone #. I think i could have gone about 13.09 at hub city yesterday just could not get it to hook i went 13.24 and lost .14 in 60ft

Since you had just gotten the Downs, I didn't want to say anything but, since it has come up, the JL unit is the way to go. My JL pegs the boost meter whereas the Downs did not completely get there. No track times to back up performance claims but I do think it supplies more air faster. Besides, you will not find an easier person to deal with than JL.

Trackboy, I noticed you were looking for the next mod to do. Well, I didn't feel to good about a chip, so after a little research, I looked into straight pipes. My muffler blew off a couple times, and I like the sound. After having it fixed 3 times, I decided to get the aggressive sound back.
I went to several muffler shops, and found out thats where the clowns work at when they aren't working birthday parties. One guy wanted $200 and the truck for a day for 'testing.' No kidding, I turned and ran. Another guy wanted $185 for parts. Thnking I could do better, I went to the parts store and spent $40, and went at it for a Saturday.
After going a best 13.896@99 w/ a 2.223 60' with the muffler, I went 13.603@101.15 w/ a 2.145 60'. I lost a consistant .2 of my time. Never went 14.0+ unless I had a 60' over 2.3
All I can say is take off your muffler at the track.

Although my truck is back to completly stock now,I can tell absolutly what the mods are good for within reason. I went 13.9 stock
chip/filter.......consistant 13.2-13.3
chip/filter/strait pipes.....consistant 13.0s and a best of 12.9 and a worst of 13.19 with decent traction.
What this means is anyway you slice it ,Strait pipes ARE good for 2 tenths of a second period!!!!! Listen to TUNDRA

A couple of reasons.
1.I am the kind of guy who always wants to change things.Sometimes i like loud brute performance.Sometimes i like the quiet reliable new Lightning feel.
2. My chip is great at the track but has a buck in it at normal driving speeds.I also thought that my valves were fluttering right before shift points due to the chip.I now find out it was probally the drive ,accesory belts.
If i do not sell my truck, I plan to get a "reliable" chip, JL ram air kit and put my strait pipes back on.I bought a whole new factory exhaust from Ford.this is on my truck right now.I also still have my complete strait pipe exhaust just incase I want it loud and fast again. It bolts on in 10 minutes and still is all welded together as a bolt on complete system.
I have had bad luck with chip companies. The chips that are fast, have problems. The slow ones have none.Next year I will probally go with the complete JL set up.Sounds perfect. If I can run low 13s without ANY problems I will be happy. If I want to smoke somebody bad,It takes 2 minutes to slap my "PERFORMANCE""current" chip in and run a high 12.....@ 105 OUCH!!!Mine isnt a flip chip
