Talking Anyone with JBA headers-please help

Any of you guys had to re-torque your header bolts? If so, do you remember how tight? Is it possible to put some sort of threadlocker on there, or is the heat too much?

I'm planning on re-torqueing tommorrow and really didn't want to have to do it again...my header leak is pretty obnoxious especially at partial throttle. I guess this mod wasn't really worth that much performance...just trouble.

Thanks,

Collin

Cool

Collin,

Naughty, naughty. Your trying to slip a mod in on me before the track opens next season.
What am I talking about I'm trying to do the same thing. LOL.

I think they make some special bolts for headers that stay locked in place. That might be the way to go. I think it was Mike Troyer who mentioned getting them when you order headers. I hope this helps buddy.

Found the thread. It is the 6th post down. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001299.html

Hey Chuck,

LOL....no actually I have had the headers on for a year or so. I would probably not recommend them to anyone. Just too much of a pain to deal with for the gain that you get, which may be nothing as far as I can tell.

I think money would be much better spent on the lower pulley or something else.

Had the problem of the header bolts coming loose all the time on my Cobra. Using a locking header bolts solved my problem for good. Got my Stage 8 bolts from the local speed shop, not sure if they make them for the L but can't see why there wouldn't be something for our application.

Summit or Jegs both handle the Stage 8 bolts.
I use them on my 69 big block Vette. They work great.

Well I just received my JBA headers today and it looks like you get standard bolts and lock washers.
