Nathan is right on with his tire info.

Hoosiers best size for the L is 275/35/18, which is pretty darn short. Also, hoosiers are not so great for street driving... so that means an extra set of rims and changing wheels at the track. http://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm

If I were to get race tires, I think I would get BFG R1, gen1 (not R1A which are gen2) in a 295/35/18. This is a better size. These can be driven on the street... if you keep them away from water. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/bfg/bf...ing_gforce.htm - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...orce+T%2FA+R1A

Same one I chose because of the wheel width and tire diameter. Yet, I'll probably get a second set of wheels for the race tires. Considering that, would the BFG's still be the better choice?

BTW, what is a "Ford F150 Nascar Edition2000?"

I race Laguna Seca all the time. Does it matter if it was on Grand Turismo 2 for Playstation? It is one of the most difficult tracks on the game, I can't imagine real life! Good write up, I wish I lived out in Cali. now!

George: Tough call... The BFG's are still a better size and will last a lot longer... BUT the hoosiers are insanely sticky! Compared to the Hoosiers... the BFG's could be classified as "sucking"...

Note that you will get about 4-6 track days on the hoosiers. Race rubber will increase braking ability and thus make brakes fade earlier. And body roll will get scarey if not down right dangerous with race rubber. Point being we may want to consider a few mods before installing the world's stickiest road-race tires...

But it would be blast with race rubber... race tires are considered the best "bang-for-the-buck" for these events.
