PSP Filter Install Questions
Just bought a used PSP & am wondering since there were no instructions included is there anything I should be aware of?
I noticed that the filter doesn't sit flush against the air opening in the fender, it's about 1" or so away. Not sure if it's suppose to be right against the opening like the stock housing. Are the 2 bolts holding the tube down supposed to be torqued down tight? I left them loose b/c tight causes the filter to be off centered from the air opening.
Easy install w/o instructions, just making sure I am not missing any tips & tricks.

Tighten the 2 bolts that hold the piping that the filter attaches to. Loosen the filter clamp and position the filter so it touches nothing. That is more critical because wherever it touches it rubs and where it rubs it wears a hole in it. If you are concerned with it drawing the air from the boot hole then take a piece of foam rubber (such as 3" foam pipe insulation) and put it tightly between the filter and the fender and then butt the filter against it to help hold it in place.

Did it come with 4 flat washers? Put them between the tube and the housing it bolts to. Sal says this is very important! Can't remember why, I sold mine and don't have his instructions anymore. Mine did not center on the fender opening either.
Thanks, I'll try the suggestions you guys gave me. Maybe that will help out. It doesn't seem as loud as I thought it would be. At least based on everyones comments.

BayAreaLightning....
I am the one who bought KGM's PSP filter. Mine for whatever reason centered very nicely over the opening in the fender and is very close to it as well. I was VERY impressed with the loudness of the supercharger. Much louder than it was with my AirRaid set-up, but then again I didn't remove the side panels as everyone seems to be doing now, so I'm not sure which is louder. But I'm very happy with the product.
Thanks again Kevin, sorry to hear about your bumper cover.

Thnx videoman. The no touch thing was my own personal experience. Touched in one little area and created a small hole in prefilter and almost through the filter. Ya live, ya learn.

Thanks for telling me about making sure the filter does not rub. I noticed that the filter was right up against 2 screws.
Also, do you think it reaaly makes a difference whether the filter is up against the boot hole? If it does then I definitely will try the pipe insulation.

BayAreaLightning, good question. Mine is but only because I've installed the JL Ram Air kit. I didn't have it set up that way before the kit so I can't say if it helps any. I'm sure it doesnt hurt though.
