My Lightning was broken into tonight
Well, I came home *to mom and dads* because I couldn't sleep so I thought I would pick up some work stuff to mess with. Wasn't here more than an hour. Signed off here to leave and go back home and I walked out and thought Hmmmm....little early for the newspaper guy. Then I heard *Yo ***** Run Run...* *not my words...theirs* Great I thought...so I hauled *** to the truck...sure enough, window was busted, wallet was gone, stereo face was gone. I know...shouldn't have left them in the car in the first place but I wasn't planning on being here more than a few minutes. Plus the damn street is lit up like the 4th of July. So anyway, I jump in the truck, glass and all and took off like a bat outof hell with it't wings on fire. They went down the street and split up and when I got there I didn't see them so I went up a street and rean into the newspaper guy, said he saw one go the other direction so I go to the end and turn back towards my own street and sure enough here comes the SOB in the Cherokee he sees me and by this time I am doing about 55 towards him and he turns on the street just before mine so I turn and before I know it I am right behind him. We're doing almost 70 at 430 am down a residential and I know that Cherokee can't handle what I'm bringing so I push him to take it further. We go flying around that corner and he almost lost it...back up the street past my mom and dads street we're back up to 75 and that idiot thinks he is going to outdrive me. He goes PAST a street and then cranks the wheel, I guess he thought I would fly right by and he would get away but instead he damn near rolled that truck. had it not been for the fire hydrant and stop sign he slammed into to upright him he would have. I hit the brakes when I saw him trying to be slick and pulled the truck right up to the passenger door blocking him in the car right? Wrong, SOB went out the drivers side window. I came flying out of the truck screaming and hollering and cursing and calling names and threatening and I came around the back of the Cherokee in time to see him jump the fence. I was so mad. So I lay on the horn in the Cherokee, which is still running on tilt against the stop sign and look down and realize there is no key...stolen. So the neighbors come out and they call the cops and the cops come and take a report and they are going to have it printed and hopefully it wasn't a minor without a record but some stupid mother-hopper who was brilliant enough to get caught before and I can press charges. The cops seemed to enjoy the idea that instead of calling them I chased them myself. One even said too bad you didn't knock the guy unconscious. I will be very very honest with you guys. I have a registered .38 and I am very glad looking back that it is at home safe on my nightstand. This all happened ohhh about an hour ago. I am calmer now. But I am hoping against hope that they come back with a match on those prints.

That really really bites Christy. It's just a good thing you didnt get hurt chasing that guy! Never know if someone like that might pull a gun on YOU.

Morning CA.
Long time no hear, and very sorry the breakin was the reason.
Sounds like your Bolt is mostly OK and you as well, so could have been a lot worse.
Your description of the chase scene was a blast. Bet it takes a day to get off the adrenelin high. Used to do that as a cop many years ago and I know the feeling.
Hope they get the perp/s and they do a little time in the pokey.

Well cops just came back by...Pretty nice guy. Called and said he had a little surprise. Then he came over and dropped off my wallet. Everything is in here. I have more plastic than Loni Anderson too and you guys wanna know what the ONLY thing they kept was? The pictures of my truck and my dog. What the hell is that? Still no stereo. But it's ok. I have a buddy. I am mostly mad now about the window. My windows were tinted too. Well, at least I don't have to call 3 dozen 800 numbers to report stolen cards.
CA
Correction on that...the pictures, my track registration card, my fuel card for track fuel, my SVT Ford Racing card, and my Blockbuster card are all missing. But at least I got the Visas Mastercards and AMEX back.

Thanks, I think I just needed some time to calm down. I am still pretty sickened by the whole thing. And just for the record What04...I had plenty left for him. I didn't even have the chip in. Just got the new program back from Sal yesterday. That guy had no business trying to outrun me or my baby.

Glad you are okay. Pretty brave to go after two guys like that. Next time you are over ther (mom & pops) park it in the garage. They knowwhat you drive, and know it would be fun to steal.
CA,
I can understand your anger and frustration about being violated and I may have done the same thing. You seldom get the opportunity to see the perpetrator in these situations let alone have the opportunity to pursue them. You know your pursuit was dangerous, don't you? I am surprised the police didn't advise you of the danger involved.
However, he (they) may have had a weapon and before you would have had the opportunity to use yours it could have been disasterous for you. You and I are not really trained on the techniques and legalities of using a weapon in this type of situation.
Bottom line is you are OK although understandably a little PO'd and your Lightning was not stolen or wrecked. A lesson for ALL of us: no matter how "short" your visit will be, never leave anything in sight in your vehicle. It only takes 60 seconds for a B & E to occur and you'll usually never know about it until it's too late..
Christy Ann, you may have more "hutzpah" than many of us!
PS: If you have a legal permit to carry, carry a real piece ...... .357, .45 ACP or an AutoMag .44 mag. You don't want to just **** them off!

It's too bad Colorado doesn't have that, "Make My Day Law". Shoot first, ask questions later. If you had that .38 with you, and shoot like you drive, they would have been D.O.A.!!
Next time im at the Emissions lab in Aurora, im going to keep an eye out for White lightning's!! Ha, kidding! Be glad they ran, instead of turning on you. Best of luck with your window. Now you have to make sure the window guy doesn't scratch the paint or mess-up the door pannel doing the R&R.

SVTGirl,
I feel your pain... Since I moved here to Littleton, CO in March of this year, I had my 87 Grand National stolen ( NOT RECOVERED EVEN WITH A $3000 BOUNTY ), and my mailbox blown up!
Since I am a well armed individual, I have read the law, to bad it was not parked on the driveway... Then it is a shoot now, and laugh over drinks later scenario... Just as long and you can state that they made a motion of hostile intent against you, then you could have taken them out on the street. ;-)
Hell, I told the cops that if you get within ramming distance then take out the car... I can always replace the car I just want the SOB behind the wheel.
I am use to the Missouri counties... Known thieves have gone missing and watchful neighbors... Hell, I use to live in downtown KC, MO right close to KC, KS. No issues ever... You could see the nat from the interstates... No one ever bothered with it...
I even had a neighbor ( KC, MO ) stop my father from taking my chainsaw that I left out for him to pick up and called the cops. I had to leave work just to say it was ok...
I have been told from neighbors that it is all the CA people moving in that has increased the crime. Don't really know and don't care... They should all ( thieves ) taken out and tied to the telephone poll and shot.
Sorry for the long post, I still have a lot of feelings about it...

WhiteLightninSVTGirl,
Reading your story probably raised my BP about 10 points. I too feel bad for you.
If I can relate my exp.:
Woke up one morning, headed to work, noticed car AND truck (luckily didn't have White L at the time) were each missing a window.
Thief was later found to be the next door neighbor's grandson who was living with them after brief prison stint. This winner also stole ladders and tools the same night from his OWN Grandpa who was giving him a place to live.
Total of cache (from me): 1 99$ stereo from car, 1 set of truck speaker boxes. Had he asked, I think I would have just given the $200 just to not have to pick glassouttamyass for the next few weeks.
The real fun is having to see him now out in their yard when I drive up our street. Luckily the court system worked in this case, and the $$$ restitution he had to pay made my hatred go way down....
Hope things work out for you!!!

CA, check with Blockbuster & see if they used your card. If they did they are probably on video tape. Sorry to hear about your truck. Lloyd

Nice run. Sounds like it would have been a blast(if not for the reason you had to do it). To bad you couldn't have manuevered him into a light pole when you were up around 70. Probably could have saved the taxpayers a few bucks. Too bad about your truck.
