Cool Got PIRELLI P-ZEROS

Not the Scorpion truck tires, but the P-Zero Asimmetrico Porsche/Ferrari tires.

Size is 285/45/18... the fact that they are smaller than stock bothered me, but the stickier rubber more than compensates for the slight reduction in width. Mounted, they are a hair shorter and a hair narrower... tires still bulge past rim.

Traction off the line is somewhat better. You can roll the throttle on much more aggressively than stock. But going full throttle suddenly still results in expensive smoke. Braking is definitely improved (g-forces felt before ABS kicks in).

The real difference in these tires is the handling!... Waaaaaaaaay better than stock - It's crazy how fast I can take on-ramps/off-ramps... the lean of the truck scares me well before the the tires break loose.

No difference in ride quality, nor road noise.

Tire Diameter: 28.1" (stock: 28.4")
Load Rating: 1929lbs (stock: 1819lbs)
Approved width: 9-10.5" (stock: 9.5-11")
Price... are you sitting down? $354/tire

Yes, I run Yoko AVS Intermediates on my '96 Cobra. They are far superior to the BFG ZR tires I had before. Plus, the price was very good through Tire Rack. When you're shopping for 315/35-17s, price is an issue...about the same situation with the L tires.

If you can find a size you like, I would highly recommend them!

Thumbs up

Nathan: I'll post some in a few days.

RTkilla: The AVS Sports are NICE... sticky and last a long time... not as sticky as Potenza S02's or Michelin MXX3, but close. And then hang together for road-racing really well! Though I cant find any good sizes that work for the L.

Wes: AVS Sports may be a good next set for you... I found that they last waaaaaaaay longer than the AVS inter.

I was going to ask who painted your Lightning yellow? So I guess I won't waste $99 for a camera.

Angry

Arghhh !!!!
I was at the Tire Rack today buying a new set of Good-Years and I asked about those Pirellis, salesman told me that it had a lower load rating than the Good-Year. What's up with that ??? You folks might also consider the BF Goodrich Comp TA ZR Tire as a replacement (same size as stock and original Roush truck eqip.) they worked wonderfully on my '98 Cobra.

Tirerack is wrong... These tires are rated 100lbs higher than stock per tire - I got this straight off the side wall.

Also see: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...em+Asimmetrico

CA: No, the stock ones were brand new... they just dont hold up to road-racing very well.
