Question Winter Wheels and Tires for 2000 Lightning

Hello to all:

Since winter is fast approaching here in New England, I have been getting a little bit nervous about driving the 2000 L with the stock F1 tires. I don’t intend to drive the truck continually through the snow season, having my winter “beater” available, however unexpected snowfalls do occur. The warning from Ford on the door pillar about driving the truck in snow with the F1’s, the reality of the width of the tires, as well as some of the stories posted on this Message Board, has me concerned about performing unintended donuts, or worse.

Here’s my question. Are there any Ford stock wheels and/or tires, say from the Expedition or other F-150 models or others, that will fit on the 2000 L with the larger diameter lug bolts? Additionally, might these wheels come mounted with All-Season tires of the proper diameter/height?

What I am attempting to find are wheels and tires from a salvaged vehicle. I don’t like the idea of mounting and dismounting tires, depending on the season. I think it would be easier, and in the long run, cheaper to have two sets of wheels and tires.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wilk

I bought a set of 2000 Supercrew wheels and they work fine. Already have about 2K on them. Don't worry about it; get yourself a set on the classified section.

I have a set of snow tire (Bridgestone Winter Duelers 225/70/16) and F-150 steel wheels that I may be willing to part with. The tires are only 3 weeks old and have absolutely no wear on them.....They are amazing in the snow!!!! I am willing to let them go for a very reasonable price!!!!!

Interested?

Let me know.....

Wily:

I have on order an '01L that I am changing the new wheels to the '00 version; not crazy about the new look. Anyways, if your interested, I am going to sell the '01 wheels immediately, since I'm going to have them changed at the dealership before pickup. Unfortuantely, my truck is being built on 12/4, and not delivered till mid-January. Just a thought....
