2002 L Chrome Center Caps

Several years ago I sent the original 2002 silver wheels in to get chromed and the center caps that they sent back had the typical lightning bolt (junk). The current lightning bolt emblems have double stick tape adhering them to the aftermarket chrome center cap, and over time the epox of covering has worn off and they look trashy. Several months ago I bought 4 lightning bolt emblems off eBay for $20. Well those lasted about 1 month before the coating over the emblem deteriorated. My L is garage kept so there is no doubt the quality on those caps was a joke.

Do the original chrome SVT center caps have the emblem attaching the same way with double sided tape, or do they snap in place. I never looked so that is why I am asking.

Finding these caps is a nightmare. I am afraid if I buy a typical emblem from Summit (or other reputable e-tailer) that they won't fit my aftermarket center cap.

At this point I would like to just buy (4) chrome center caps w/ emblem. I called JDM and they said I should call Ford. Blue Oval doesn't sell them, FRPP is out, and I have searched using Froogle. Can someone please help me find a reputable e-tailer that has them in stock? I'd really appreciate any and all help.

check the classifieds on all the L related forums, they do exist. The SVT on the L center caps do not snap on/off. They are held on w/epoxy or maybe something even stronger. Also any of them (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004) will work as they are all the same size/fitment.

They can be snapped off slowly with finesse...Luckily there are 6 medium size holes on the back side of the caps to where you are able to punch the centerpiece out with caution: might I add. SLowly.
I took a heat dryer to the back of my center cap.. Careful when heating, you may heat centerpiece too much to where it may discolor or destroy it. I took my time, and mine turned out great. I used a two part epoxy to reattach. The logos that they sent me for my replacements were black centerpieces with silver lightning bolt. Didnt really dig the logo that much, so went back with svt centerpiece.

Ford Racing sells them. Chrome Cap with SVT centerpiece was $35, part #M-1096-E.

Painted silver one is part #M-1096-G for $28. Ordered mine through a local store.

IF for some reason your aren't able to get ahold of the caps your speaking of, you can call Tire and Wheel Connection. 830-624-2700. Tell them you talked to Chris with the gray lightning. They will send you out replicas, but you would have to punch out the centerpieces as I discussed above. Talk to Mike Spence.. I pretty sure he can get them for you if no one else around can....

When I get off work I'll send the beforea after pics.

If all you need is the emblem there are center caps for sale on eBay all the time (I picked up a set of four for $25 a while ago). You could take the emblem off the caps and epoxy it to the chrome caps you already have. Simple and cheap...
