Fastest Bone-Stock Lightning?
Gang:
What is the quickest time any of you have run with an ABSOLUTELY BONE-STOCK Lightning? What I mean by that is "exactly as it came from the factory". For example, trailer hitch still on (if it had one), spare tire in place, stock air filter, NO airbox mods, pump gas, F1's, the works. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to increase performance, except maybe folding in the mirrors or softening the rear tires.
Of course, I don't expect that there's too much data of this type out there. Performance mods seem to be reasonably popular around these parts.
I'm thinking that I might have a fairly quick one with the recent 13.789 pass. That's not too far away from "magazine numbers" by my reckoning. Also, I did this with only 2000 miles on the clock, so I figure it might "loosen up a bit more". Has anybody beaten that? I imagine that several of you have, but an extended signature scan hasn't borne any fruit.
Let's have some numbers and names...

Johnny:
I think I can definitely go under 13.77. The I/C fluid was "warm-ish" when I ran the 13.78, the engine temp was a good bit above "cold", and the air temp was a good, but not great, 53 degrees F. I pushed the pig all the way through the VERY LONG staging lanes, which helped, but I think I could have gone 13.74 with another 15 minutes of cool-down (I was the last pass of the day) or maybe even in the high 13.6's with colder air (low-mid 40's F).
Basically, I was just bored Saturday and went to the track late for a goof. If I thought I was actually going to run some decent times, I would have gotten down to business and tried to put up some numbers.
Has anybody out there run deep in the 13.6's bone-stock? That would be doing something. If any of you can post a credible time in the 13.5's, then I give up. I'm just thinking that I haven't seen a lot of bone-stock Lightnings run faster than my S-I-L-V-E-R beast.

Turned up two 13.68's and a 13.71 on the NLOC site (Times and Mods) for bone-stock 'Bolts. That's humming along pretty good, but I think that I can get there with the right circumstances and motivation.
Has anybody run considerably faster than that (low 13.6's or even 13.5's)?

Weather and track conditions play a huge part on E.T.'s Back in March at Etown. It was 38 degrees with 57% humidity. My L clicked off a 13.36 @ 101.63mph weighing in 4856lbs bone stock.
A couple of Fridays ago at Etown, it was 58 with 57% humidity all my runs were in the 13.6x area with a airaid. Best run that night was 13.610 @ 100.16 (4920 lbs). Best part of that run was the fact that JL was in the next lane. It wasn't his fastest run (12.827 @ 106.04 mph) but he showed me what almost 8 tenths looks like. I drool for more mods this winter.

Maybe after this Friday I'll have some more great times to report. Jeff and I are doing some testing at the track and it's been very cold here in Baton Rouge lately. I made one pass last Friday after driving 45 minutes to the track and not letting it cool down before the pass. It was a very good run.
We'll post the latest developments at the NLOC site. With and without Danny Swanson's chip.

The purportedly stock L. that Popular Mechanics used in their comparison test ran a 13.62. Who knows whether they removed the spare tire or tail gate, but I would not exactly call these mods if they did, and I don't think this makes the truck non-stock. But the issue is, what circumstances were these numbers posted under? Hell, they might have had a 40 mph tail wind that day. They only way to compare times on stock trucks is to have them all run the same day at the same track, and even then we know conditions vary from run to run. But those of you who are running 13.6s consistently on different days or different tracks I salute you, you gotta have a mighty strong truck.
Silver-Y2K-SVT,
I don't know if you want one more story or not, but......
Just got home from Rockingham, NC dragway.
This was the first time I ever raced at a dragstrip--and first race for the L!
It is a 2K, 5200 mi.with an ARE LSII cover & Wing, Bedrug, 2"drop, otherwise STOCKSTOCKSTOCK! No "goodies" at all...yet!
Weighed in @ 4915 w 3/4 tank of gas.
3 runs
1/4 MPH 60ft. 1/8
13.692 @ 101.56 2.039 8.833 Temp 43 F.
13.763 @ 100.6 2.064 8.860 45 F.
13.857 @ 100.46 2.135 8.952 48 F.
This stuff is fun, huh???
I watched other modified L's go faster and got a ride/spin through 2nd from ~5 mph roll in Ryan2KRedL's chipped/fitered (13.13 truck). Thanks Ryan!
Now..., well, you know how it starts. If I can just figure out where she keeps the VISA card.......

Lightstruck - With 1/4 tank or less of fuel and no tonneau bed cover I expect you would have gone some 13.50's.....!!
Glad to have met you and your wife. Now if we can just do that mod that Arthur told us to keep quiet about.....:-)
