Talking v10 Lightning?

Any of you heard the rumor of ford dropping
a supercharged version v10 in the Lightning?
2003 I think. May be just that, a rumor. But damn, that would be an answer to chevy's susposedly double throwdown ss.

Back in 97 I can remeber ford talking about wether to put the v8 in the L or the v10. That was back when it was a concept truck so who knows.
I don't know if that would be a good thing, parts might be even harder to find and more expensive. Look at the vipers, everyone I know says that they have nothing but trouble with them and parts are a rip off.
A v10 lightning would be the ***** though

Who knows with all this talk about Chevy and Dodge working up something to spank our Ls, naturally aspirated, Ford may just have to pull out the big V10. I would be first in line!

Off topic but:

Saw a Durango the other day with a V10 badge on it. Sounded real mean too. Too bad I wasn't in my Lightning.

Dont get me wrong fellas, there's nothing wrong with the current lightnings. Besides,
those of you turning mid to low 13's in the 1/4, how much more power could you possibly want? Thats salty for a 5000 lb. truck! And those of you in the 12's.....thats just plain BAD......go spank a Z06!

Yes it had a V10 badge and DID NOT sound like the 5.9 V8, I know I used to have one. Didn't have any other badges that I could see though.

Hi Cobra99,

Make 'em drool, you lucky rascal, you're probably the only person on this board who has actually driven some of those V-10 proto's.

I would think the next logical power improvement for the Lightning is the 4 valve heads that are on the Lincoln Navigator 5.4L engine. Produces 300HP versus the standard 5.4L 260HP. A 2003 upgrade maybe? That probably be worth having. Putting out about 420 HP at least over the standard 380 HP 2001 Lightning engine without a lot of extra weight.

Is not the 5.4L 4V engine the 385HP engine in the Cobra R?

I have never thought about the lincoln navigator engine. That motor does put out 300 horse natraul. We got to find that out. That might be worth the 40 horsepower. As for the cobra R motor I heard that is not quite the same as our L's so the head won't work. I wish it would work. Makes you think Why can't we all build up our motor's to the cobra r's standards. Then put the eaton on there. That would be 485 horse. That would be nice.
