Raced with 99 Porche Carrera
This is how it comes down. I was coming down an avenue, suddenly I looked at my rear view saw the carrera coming tords very slowly.Stoped at red light looked again to the rear he was coming in like he didn't want to get next to me. Light turns and I leave like normal, next red light comes. After this light its a straight mile and a 1/2 run, this was a good feeling. don't know if he had any mods but as he got next to me noticed he had a nice exhaust. he didn't show any signs or didn't even look over to let now that it was on,so I just waited. Light turns we were gone. I was ahead two cars for about 1/4 mile then after the 1/4 he pull up half car. He couldn't pass me, I hit 130MPH then I had to brake there was traffic ahead on my lane so he passed me after the mile. it was a nice run.Don't know how the carreras run, butI do know how the 911 twin turbos run.
Damn, now that sounds like fun, I haven't run any of those imports yet. Was it a new one? Either way it was a Porsche. I lined up once with a V12 Mercedez, but he decided he was done playing when I caught a side by side light with him.
Seems like last night was a good night.

Don't know if it was a 98 or 99, but yes it was a newer model plus he had it really nicely hookedup. I feel like know one believes me. unless he was just fooling with me, but I think from a carreras history and to my knowlege they don't have much output like we do. please tell me if I'm wrong.
I found a test of the Carrera 4 in the May '99 issue of Car & Driver. $83,066, 3263lbs., 296 hp. 0-60 in 5.0, 1/4 mile in 13.5@104. Based on its 1/4 mile time, it is slower than my '00 Lightning with an R9 Superchip. I would guess that the Porsche will have an advantage above 100 mph due to aerodynamics, but you story sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Good race.
I ran a Boxster S and a Carrera 2 at Texas Motorplex in the Summer and beat both by a couple tenths. In fairness both were relatively new and neither driver was willing to do a 4 grand launch. But I have also run 4 tenths faster in my truck since then so if they were in it to win it it would likely be pretty close now but I still think I could edge them.
The Carrera ran 14.1 14.2 and the Boxster 14.3 - 14.5 that day....

I've raced the Carrera with the dolphin wing in the back (I call it Free *****) and beat him uphill, in a straight line, and on a curved road. Speeds in excess of 110mph. He beat me on the launch due to excessive wheelspin but I passed him on the turn. Couldn't believe it.
Excellent kill. I bet he was mad about spending all that money. He's either gonna trade it or modify it some more.

I remember that one Brimstone, that was a detailed kill. For that very reason, I am waiting for any Porsche to line up with me. I keep telling my buddy they are imports, but he insists on using 'foreign.' We saw one at the track, sure enough, he was running in the Pro-Import class. He was also runnign 15.1s, a mid 80s 944 or something. That was the day I lost my childhood vision of thinking of porsches as 'fast' cars. Everyone beat it into me while I was growing up in L.A.
BTW, a few months ago I raced a BMW that looked like it had sort of a hatch on the rear, saw it again today, sure enough it was an M3. It kept up much better than I thought. Like a Mustang GT.
