Angry 2000L owners - beware/bad belt !

just got back home in my RENTAL car from the dealer. L only has 190 miles on it. at about 3500 rpm, i was hearing a squeal, like a transmission band problem. when i opened the hood, there were pieces of rubber underneath. the rear serpentine belt, which drives the alternator, power steering, etc., had started to self destruct. the belt was the WRONG part number, and was short 3 ribs - didn't fit on the pulley. so check yours before it's too late !
this job is several hours, so they sent me home - alot of front engine parts are off (fan, brackets, etc.)
while looking over the engine, they also noticed hose clamps not in the proper place - the overflow for the radiator clamps were hanging in the middle of the hose !

i am really surprised at ford quality. this is my first ford, after alot of muscle cars, and i am disappointed. i drive over 100 miles roundtrip to work, and am seriously doubting the reliability of this truck.

Thumbs up

Daves00L,
Thanks for the 'heads-up'. I'll take a look.

Later, Jake...

Ouch!

Think I'll check them at the dealer.

Thanks for the tip.
