Post wheels weights on face of wheel??

hey guys, just a quick question, even though it is a stupid question. as many times as i have seen lightnings in person, i never remembered to take notice, do they put the balance weights on the face of the wheel from the factory? or stick on weights on the inside of the wheel? my stock SS ZR1 WHEELS came through with stick on weights on the inside of the wheel, but my friends 98 SS, CAME through with weights on the outside edge of wheel. the SS wheels and the lightnings wheels are way too nice to have wheel weights on the outer lip i think. so im curious about the answer to this question, would like to know this about 99,00, and 01's. they can always be taken off, but most of the time, once their clipped on, they scratch the wheel on the way on. thanks later Mike

I just got some new mag wheels and Discount tire put the stick on weights in the middle of the wheel. The truck "shimmys like my sister kate." I went to my shop and they told me you CANNOT balance any wheel by putting on weights in the middle of the wheel. The weights must go where the balance machine says on either the front or back of the rim even if it ruins the protective coating on the wheel. You have a choice--pretty or smooth ride. I'm going in Monday to have the glue on weights removed and regular weights put on.

I have a 99 and it came with regular pound on edge mount wheel weights. The balance maching tells whether the weights go on the front or back of the wheel. You CANNOT correctly balance a wheel by only putting the weights on the back side of the wheel.

NOEL, yea i know what u mean by how the machine works, i have used one at a buddys shop. but some do balance them by using stick ons on inside of wheel. i guess it probably doesnt work as well, but looks better. thanks for the input. my SS still has the factory tires and wheels and no weights visible, i do get a slight shake in the steering wheel at about 60mph, but the tires are fairly worn also. car has almost 23k miles. later Mike

i had to have one of my tires patched.. they asked me if i wanted it "static" balanced. (no weights on the outside, just on the inside)
this is how i had my rims balanced on my old f-150. havent had a problem with either of them.

Mine came on outside. I have learned to just ignore the ugly-butt things. I wish they could be hidden. I'm just glad it's not like my son's Toyota Mud-Dobber. 5 LBS of inside stick-ons on one of those 33/12.50-15"
