Talking Hi, and thanks, 01 on order

Hi all,
I have been reading this board for almost 1 1/2 years now and wanted to thank all of you for such great information on this truck.

I have always wanted a muscle car (mustang, camaro, firebird), but at 6'8" it wasn't really possible. Then alas in 1999 I see a 2nd generation lightning in a magazine....

360 HP? ohhhh
440 torque? ahhhhh
quicker than a GT? weeee!!

I think I found my dream vehicle. Thanks to the great info y'all provide up here I knew of the problems with the truck (clunk, intercooler) and decided to wait.

Well, I can't wait anymore! LOL. I'll be placing my order this weekend for a '01. ($1,000 below sticker.. though that sounded resonable from what I read up here.)

So, hopefully I'll be out of my '94 Splash Supercab (I fill that cab up pretty good.. LOL) and into a Lightning by March.

I can't tell you how informative this site has been and really want to thank everyone.

-Lurch

Cool

I was a die hard chevy fan all my life until '92 - I read about Ford's "Lightning" In '93 I test drove one, and in '94 I bought one. I now own a 2000 L, and would not consider any other truck on the market. Trust me - once you own a Lightning you'll never want another truck. I haul anything and everything you could with a truck (firewood, appliances, bricks, etc) and get my kicks smoking teens in the usual - camaros, corvettes, firebirds, chevy 454ss(haha!-it used to be close in my '94 but the new ones make 'em look like the're launching in reverse!
Bring 'em all on! I've finally got something to be reconned with!

For a year and a half, you've been reading this board, and this is your first post?? Well, it's about time. I hope you don't have to wait as long for the 2001, as we have had to wait to hear from you.

Welcome.

Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the board. I'm sure you'll love every bit of it. And I do hope you order the fastest color (BLACK)!!

P.s. If anyone wants to clue me in, how is everyone getting money off of the 2001's, I know here in Cali it's a damn good deal to get it at sticker like I did, but I would like money off. No harm in trying.

Hey Lurch,
I am 6'8" also, but have always managed to squeeze in to most cars.
Last year I drove a 99 Lightning and found it to be super-spacious.
I am also just a few weeks away from getting in my order for a black 2001 lightning.
