Spring Mod/Maintenance Fever!!

Guys got a few questions. I want a catback and have it down to 2 choices, wanna get your all's opinion. Magnaflow or the MAC system? Not worried about rust only sound!!

Second question is blower belts, feels like I get a little slip under hard acceleration hopefully not the tranny but wanting to replace the belt. What is the best to go with and the part number.

Third question is brakes, needing front pads very very badly, can someone give me a part number for some good pads at autozone?

And last truck has almost 30K miles on her. Should I change the plugs anytime soon, tranny fluid, rear end grease, etc. All this warm weather we are having mid 60's has me itching to do something.

As for Catbacks I've tried the American Thunder, Bassani, and Silver Bullet, each has it's own unique sound. Of course Headers and Cats or no Cats, High Flow or Reg Cats, all play a part in the overall sound. The main thing I look for in mufflers is to NOT HAVE the parkway drone sound and none did and I love the Bassani and Silver Bullet sound
Here's the Mac System for $284.00

As for Belt slip I have NEVER heard it mistaken for Tranny slipping, what are you feeling ??? If your having belt slipping you'll usually see it on a good gauge and hear it when you jump on it and get off it, or during a hard shift.
And of course you can see and feel when a belt is too lose and the tell tail sign is the Black Belt dust, do you have a lot ???

As for Brakes I dont have to tell you Lightning Brakes suck monkey *** but I can tell you I tried Auto Zone Ceramic Brakes and although I originally loved them (and the lack of cleaning the rims afterwards) in time they did what everyone will tell you, they crack warp and ruin your rotors, been there done that.... I think what you'll find a lot of us using now are the Hawk Pads
They offer Heavy Duty which some run and the HPS which most run

HB299F.650 FRONT PADS 1999-2004 LIGHTNING
HAWK HPS PERFORMANCE PADS OFFER LOW DUST , HIGH FRICTION , GENTLE ON ROTORS , VIRTUALLY NOISE FREE , IMPROVEMENT OVER STOCK PADS AND EXTENDED PAD LIFE.
Price: $72.88

HB301F.630 REAR PADS 1999-2004 LIGHTNING
HAWK HPS PERFORMANCE PADS OFFER LOW DUST , HIGH FRICTION , GENTLE ON ROTORS , VIRTUALLY NOISE FREE , IMPROVEMENT OVER STOCK PADS AND EXTENDED PAD LIFE.
Price: $63.09

Or as said HD

HB299P.650 FRONT PADS 1999-2004 LIGHTNING
HAWK HEAVY DUTY PADS ARE EXTREMELY FADE RESISTANCE , STABLE FRICTION OUTPUT , EXTENDED PAD LIFE , MUCH IMPROVED BRAKING OVER STOCK PADS.
Price: $98.60

HB301P.630 REAR PADS 1999-2004 LIGHTNING
HAWK HEAVY DUTY PADS ARE EXTREMELY FADE RESISTANCE , STABLE FRICTION OUTPUT , EXTENDED PAD LIFE , MUCH IMPROVED BRAKING OVER STOCK PADS.
Price: $85.36

In the end what it always comes down to, if you want to stop expect dust, and the more dust the more stopping it's doing, I recommend the Hawk HPS
but dont know if Auto Zone has them, give them a call.
If not you can get them here, thats where I do

AS for 30K if you havent changed the Trans Fluid hell ya I would, and of course the Filter, and add a FTVB I'd also yes do the plugs and of course the Fuel Filter, that should be changed VERY OFTEN.

BTW, I'd die for the 60's right now &(*@$^%(&@$%(@$^%@(^@$
It's currently 13 degrees where I am with a Feels Like Temp of 4 degrees,
AND THATS @ 15 -20 degrees warmer that yesterday (@$%(@$%@()$@$
Rumor is by Sat we'll be back in the hi 40's

Thanks rob for the info. The belt slippage is just under hard accelerations. Nothing from shifting from gear to gear. I bought the truck used so don't really know if any kind of maintenance has been done to it at all. I was just going to get the belt changed cause that is the cheap way out of fixing it (if that is what it is). Truck is under warranty so if it is something else then they can fix it. It may be the fuel filter a little clogged as well, not really sure but I will just do it all soon and see what happens. What is a good replacement plug? I'll probably get the pads on order and go with the HPS to see how they work. As for the FTVB would like to have one but truck under warranty have to wait a while. Catback I will probably go with the MAC and see how it does. Not worried about the rust or anything just want something that sounds good. Thanks again Rob!!

Rob is correct, the Hawk HPS pad are a nice upgrade, as for belts I like Gates Green stripe but have used Goodyear "Gatorback" and the OEM motorcraft and have never had any slip. I'd also do a solid tune up-plugs ect... ( I like NKG TR-6's ) I also change the fuel filter at every other oil change as for the tranny fluid/filter- yes, change it, I'd say every 10K and also agree with Rob, drop in a FTVB and finally the catback- I have a single muffler Magnaflow catback and have been happy however, I really like the sound of the Bassani. Good luck, T
