I've got Toyo Proxes S/T's on my Denali shown below. 285/60R18's to be exact. While they are great looking tires and have a really cool tread pattern, I wouldn't really call them a high performance tire. Not that the application I have them in is exactly high performance.

Truckin' Mag did a large tire comparison a few months ago and judging by the info, the Yokohama AVS series of tire was a great all around and the Nitto was the best wet/dry tire. The Toyo didn't fair so well. Quite a ways back.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that although the Toyo will have great price, I would tread carefully!! (pun intended LOL)

Cool

Toyo does list them as a "high performance" tire. The main issue here is that people on this board are looking for a lower priced product than the Goodyear. The size is to my knowledge the 1st replacement for the Goodyears. Correct me if I am wrong

Question

You folks who buy mail order tires, who does the mounting and balancing for you?

I used Big-O-Tire for the mount and balance of my Stang rims and tires. A good shop should use a computer balancer and mount the weights on the rim edge for the best balance.

I bought every set of tires I put on my '94 lightning from the Tire Rack and each time had them mounted and balanced at NTB (formerly NTW) which is a subsidiary of Sears. I had 117000 miles on the '94 before bambi ran out in front of me and caused me to do a ditch launch. (Shortly before this happened I was wondering how I could justify buying a new L - guess my prayers were answered - in a way - just wish I didn't have to lose the thumb on my dominant hand in the process.

Sounds like nows the time to buy! My tires are more than half way gone at 2400 miles. Too many smoke shows I guess. $215 is going to be hard to beat. Lloyd
