Angry Need Help!

My L is at its third dealership trying to get the miss fixed. I told the service writers everything I've read on this board to try to steer them in the right direction.....to no avail; coil packs, plugs, pcm (replaced), etc.

No one seems to be able to figure it out. Each one asks me if I run a chip, and tells me that chips burn out pcm's and wreak havoc with the entire computer system in the truck and not to run them. Yet even with no chip and a new pcm, no fix. (BTW I know the OE boys are OE brainwashed when it comes to aftermarket parts).

Today they tried a new mass air sensor and rechecked all the O2 sensors. Still no fix.

Here's how it is. The miss is most noticeable between 40-45 mph with the overdrive off and cruising. As soon as you give it more throttle, it runs like a bat, but at even throttle it bucks and pops like hell. It misses at all speeds, that is just where it is most prevailant.

Please, anything, this is driving me crazy. I'm out of my L.

Tim

I just got mine back from the dealer. 6 different tests & they couldn't find the problem. I told them My gut feeling was a coil pack, he said we cant replace them all & hope... Long story short: It was a loose coil! My L would run rough or miss when hot under load. Hoe this helps, Lloyd

TimBurntire,
Did any of the dealers check for an air leak downstream of the mass air meter. Did they check for a bad EGR-valve. If not have them check. If the valve is bad it can dump more air. If thats the case a/f fuel ratio would be off. Have them check around the supercharger. Anyplace extra air can bypass the mass air meter. If that isn't it have them check the crank sensor. Good luck!!
