Welcome to the board. These trucks are VERY addicting. Just as a suggestion, do what I did/am doing, keep your Camaro AND buy the 2001 Lightning (Black of course since it's the fastest color). Just one favor, kill the caps lock. It's murder on the eyes. Thanks...and enjoy.

Welcome, this isn't a Ford only type thing here. I've owned mostly Chevys and Pontiacs in the past, and still have a few. The best thing about the Lightning is it's almost a win - win situation when it comes to a race. If you lose to a car, big deal you have a truck. If you beat the car, well you can imagine. Since buying the Lightning I find myself driving it more than any other car just for the pure enjoyment of it.

I like cars for the car not really the make.
I am on my second lightning and it is only because I missed the damn thing so much. My girlfriend loves it. My father loves it. My fellow workers love it in the parking lot. You can't loose you will love it and so will everyone else around you. I haven't met anyone who didn't like my truck. Even guys you beat give you respect. Its a Win-Win-Win situation.

ya, if you can keep both. I sold a 91 mustang that was in great condition (had a aftermarket hood, some engine mod's etc...) & I really miss it!! But, if I could only keep 1, definatly the "L"! You wont go wrong, if you like the new rims on the 01, hold out for it. If you dont I'm sure yoy can find a deal on a 99-00.

Hey WA,

No, no modifications unless you consider a K&N filter a big mod. Nor have we had it to the track. It's my wife's car and she would thrash me if I broke it. And breaking it sounds all too easy given what I've read over at LS1.com, especially with a manual.

(Truth be known, I don't shift well enough to get decent results)

Wes, my wife has a '99 Firebird Formula LS1 with a 6 speed, but no Ram Air. K&N is the only mod. Haven't ever had it to the track, but as soon as the L. hits a 12, I plan on trying her car out.

Hey guys! Thanks for the big welcome, and im sorry about the caps lock, i have a bad habit with that. Yes i really do love the truck and would love to have one, the only thing that stops me is that my car is not worth what id like to get for it. i paid 27,500 for it and now i see i wouldnt even be able to get 20k for it and that is a big disappointment. : ( we'll see what happens, plus now with winter coming i doubt selling it would be an easy deal, lol.
