Well where do we start first! I have had both the downs ford and airraid intake on my truck either one gave me no gain in e.t.I just noticed it sounded better at w.o.t.The airraid is better quality but no results in e.t.Then I purchased a pro-m and gained 2 tenths in the 1/4.PRO-M DOES WORK!The problem is trying to get a good quality chip programmed to work with it without detonating.Next lets go to exhaust.I put 2 different flomasters on my L one was 2 1/2 and other was 3 inch both made my L slower.
Next I put the borla on which resulted in slower times!Then I put a 3 inch MAGNAFLOW which everbody's talking about again slower times.The reason is all these mufflers lose low end torque compared to the stock muffler!
I have JBA headers again no gain!I had bassani hi-flo cats on before they went bad on me.I am running faster times now with the stock cats on.Point is leave exhaust alone unless you want a better sound which these mufflers will give you but you will lose at least a tenth at the track!Lets talk about chips.Hypertech-2tenths,swanson-3tenths,diabosport-4tenths,PHP chip-4tenths,R9-4tenths and the winner is JL street program 5tenths!My point to all of you L owners is if your looking for E.T. and want to do it right the first time go with a good quality chip and mass air and good sticky tires all for around $900.All of the above items I spent just over 5 GRAND just to make my L faster and all I have to show for it is garage full of parts!

I didn't find my Borla cat-back cost me anything...at the track, or the dyno. Ran the same times (in worse conditions, nonetheless) at the track, and the dyno showed no improvement or losses.

This is just what happened on my particular truck.

Great stuff, I hate to say it, but go buy a Dynomax muffler. I know I picked up some hp from it!! The truck felt so much stronger all around after I out it on. Also I could never hit 103mph in the 1/4, since I put the Dynomax on I am consistently hittng those trap speeds.

high roller did you ever try the duel mufflers ? a lot of guys are oing this useing the flomasters and they say they are makeing hp because it is a true dual exhaust,what do you think ?

The Magnaflow muffler is very quality muffler it looks great and sounds the best of any muffler I have had on my L.My problem was I put the 3 inch on hoping for more HP and I lost 15 pounds of torque.Go with the
2 1/2 inch our trucks like this setup better!

high roller, tell's it like it is.i can not beleive there are still people recommending an airraid,or any cat back[except for sound] or any shorty header.i too have spent thousands on parts that don't have any gain in e/t.my experience with the first 00 superchip and an airraid gave me 13.7 that is two tengths off stock of 13.9.then came the pro m and swanson chip 13.2 thats five tentghs better.then came m/t et streets and learning how to launch,and now my best is 12.926.107.74 a full second better than stock.and 8/10s+ faster than the first oo superchip and airaid combo.i also wasted money on bassani headers,bassani cat back,i tried running no cat's only to put them back on no gain in e/t. i was the first to try touqmaster plug's no gain ,maybe a small loss. the only plug's that have more throttle response[a lot more]is the splitfires.no one with ngk's posted any gain's in throttle response,so why use them? as high roller said THE PRO M DOES WORK.i am waiting for j/l to get one of his chip,s when he program's it for the pro m,i will be ordering,until then i'm happy

I have only used the one muffler dual in and dual out for all my testing just different sizes.Yes I have the JL ram-air kit and I like it alot It works great with his street program.But I also have his pro-m ram-air kit which I am still waiting for a program from JL so I can compare the two!
I believe his setup when he gets the pro-m chip modified for more fuel there will be alot of L's in the 12's.
Yoda can you post which dynamax mufflers you were using?

If you use your stock mass-air go with the JL chip or the R9 both are truely a great chip with lots of low end power and very firm shifting.But if you use your pro-m the verdict is still out because I recently purchased a R9 custom programmed for
mass-air and I am still getting detonation into 3rd at w.o.t.I called superchips and they were no help because they are finding out some pro-m meters are running are L's leaner than others.The truck they tested with a pro-m must not have needed as much fuel as mine did.So they don't want to help me until they can dyno another L with a problem detonating so they can have a backup program for this situation.This is not that hard for them to add a little fuel for 3rd gear only at w.o.t.I know personally others chip companies that will do this modification
and not give us such a hard time about this!
For now I am still waiting for JL to get his
pro-m custom chip for all of us people that use PRO-M so we can have the ultimate setup!

Thankfully I found this board and the NLOC to read concerning parts. I shudder to think of the money I could have wasted experimenting. Thanks everyone for keeping my marriage intact.

Strange about the exhausts though. One would think a $1,700 Bassani system would make a huge diff. Guess not. That WOULD HAVE been one of my first changes had I not seen these and other posts.

Went outside and it is 40 degrees outside ripe for some good times!So I decided to test my stock mass-air against my pro-m using the R9 chip on my G-Tech.
STOCK MASS AIR
1st run was 12.90
2nd run was 12.97
PRO-M80
1st run was 12.75
2nd run was 12.82
I had a little detonation into 3rd at about the end of the quarter.My speed was 2MPH higher than stock.Do the math the PRO-M is about 11/2 to 2 tenths faster than my stock one!PRO-M RULES!
