More boost than I thought possible
I would guess that the boost gauge is about as accurate as the fuel gauge. Well.... maybe not quite that accurate.

Just to throw my .02 worth in this, Boost is also a measurement of restriction....

I think we've beaten this to a pulp. Good point on the boost/restriction. There's no better evidence of that than my '97 S351, that flows air so well and efficiently, I can barely tickle 8 lbs of boost at redline with an S-trim Vortech. If I bolted that blower to a stock 302 it would peg significantly more boost. Volumetric efficiency! But as my Lightning sits, it's humping along quite nicely. I've got enough rediculously loud toys, my Lightning is the daily commute/dirt bike hauler, and if I can run low 13's and keep her as quiet as possible, that's where she'll stay. Living in Florida you develop a distinct distaste for loud trucks, as every local yokel has dual straights with glass packs out the rear of their C1500 4WD! (I'm sure the Magnaflows don't sound like that) LTNBOLT, no wife involved, just a girlfriend who was going ape***** last night watching that FOX show. All those guys got cheated out of their bachelor party, and that plain sucks. Actually, I don't think I need to throw any more dough at the truck to get faster. I'm just waiting for a cooler night, 40-50 degrees, and I'll bring a friggin tire gauge so I can get some prototypical 1.90 60 fts in (Gainesville Raceway is an excellent track), and I can't imagine why I wouldn't drop to something in the 13.20's @ 103+ range. I'm only needing a tenth and one mph to get there. Just waiting for some of that cooler air in Florida that you northern guys are ripping with right now.
The first thing ya' have to do is get an aftermarket boost gauge. The stock ones are notoriously inaccurate. Mine pegged the stock boost gauge from day one. Installed an aftermarket gauge and found 8PSI on hot days, 9 on cool days and 10 on cold days as opposed to pegged at 10+ any day on the stock.
