Today on the freeway in traaffic of course this idiot behind me not paying attention hits me. I only need a new bumper. Well my question is can i just get a rollpan and have the insurance people pay for it or would that be consider insurance fraud?????

Sounds like a great plan.
Let me know if you need specifics on the rollpan stuff.

You can't beat the looks, though...

Insurance companies probably hate them...

Yes Roll Pans are nice looking but if park any where than in a pull in place, most people use the touch method of parking. Just touching a roll pan does a number on it. With a $250 or $500 dedcut. it will cost you a lot over time. Had roll pan on my last truck rear-ended two times and was parked in a pull in place and came out to find someone had backed into it. so the best laid plans don't work all the time.

Had mine for over a year now, and still no damage to it. I guess it all depends on how and where you park sometimes, IMHO.

I have been thinking about a roll pan too. How much do they cost, where do you get them and how much weight do they save?

BP:

Includes the steel roll pan and two corners. Sir Michaels quality is the best, IMO. Somewhere around $260.00 plus paint.

Total weight reduction is really up to you. The bumper, hitch and spare tire have to be removed. You can retain a hidden hitch if you want with some modification. I estimated 125-150lbs. total reduction.

I just got mine back from the body shop after getting smacked in the a$$ by an Expedition. Minor damage to the tailgate and just a small 'smile' on the bumper from his tow loop. They of course replaced both. $1,050!! I kept the old bumper as a spare. WOW, is it heavy! Probably worth .1 at the track. Then again, it may improve traction.

I was also rear-ended a while back. A Z-car decided to submarine under my truck. The only thing that stopped him was my trailer hitch.

And therein lies the problem.

The bumper was a little out of alignment but didnt appear very damaged. But, when I looked at the area where the cab meets the bed, the gap was shorter on one side than another.
Bent frame.

Anytime you are rear-ended make sure you have the body shop check your frame alignment. It can be expensive to fix and you certainly dont want to drive around long with it out of whack

This is what a stupid in a VW did to my baby...took $6k to repair. Both fiberglass bed sides and the bumber needed to be replaced and everything straightened and repainted. I now have a bigass tow hitch back there...it may not stop the hit but it will make the other guy wish he had paid more attention.

Ya thinks thats bad. I got rear ended two days after I got my L. Totally not my fault, girl behind me not paying attention. So I get the check from her insurance company (valur insurance, what a company, found out if you leave the state your insured in with them, you don't have insurance). They told me it was 35 percent my fault cause I stopped at a yellow light. Thank god my girlfriend was in the car cause I was going flip out and kick some as*.
