No guts Ferrari Driver

Post No guts Ferrari Driver

I spotted a Ferrari 355 Spider get on the gas. I was parked at a red light at the time, it turned green and I pulled up next to him at the next light. Along pulls a V-Tech something to my right with a kid in it he wants to go I tell him ok. Light turns green V-Tech gives it a go, chirped his tire and all, I got the L going and mashed it. Went right by the v-tech the, 355 just played dead. I have heard Ferrari drivers refered to as the gold chain set, all show and no go. I think the label fits. I was hoping this guy would go for it, can you imagine driving a $150,000 sports car and getting beat by a pick up?

I got home and looked up the 355 in Road & Track they to 0-60 in 5.3 sec and 13.7 in the 1/4 @104.5. It would have been fun, it is not easy to move the Ferrari gatted shifter quickly. Maybe this guy just knows his limitations, kind of weak if you ask me. Anyone race any Ferrari's??

I've also read those performance specs and was surprised, I think that is just too slow for such an expensive sports car. Maybe it kicks *** in the higher speeds or on road courses though.

I've had a new yellow Lotus something or other try to get me to race him, but I was fresh off a racing ticket and didn't want to play along. This may sound corny but I have to say it is harder to keep your foot off the pedal than to stomp on it. Maybe the Ferrari had already gotten in enough trouble.

I never thought of an exotic as fast cars, but cars that get women (and damn good looking ones) with the least amount of effort.

Insome sense, they are faster at some things than others.

Yes, they DO kick *** in the twistys, they will leave your truck in a ditch, don't take that personally. And no, I've never seen anyone race one. All the people I've seen driving them are pretty old and past the "pecker size contest" phase of their life (NOT ME!). Same goes for almost all new Vettes, Vipers, Porches. A high school kid at work always complains about this..

Hey 4x4, The guy driving the Ferrari was a young guy with the radio turned up real loud, show boat fashion. And by the way I have a 911 for the twisties, he can't hang with me there either. With a little work I don't think my Lightning would be to far behind the 911 in the twisties. You should drive a Lightning hard and see for yourself.

the 0-60 in 5.3 sounds about right, but the 13.7 sounds a bit conservative..... the f355 should pull a low 13 easily(13.3-13.5 tops).

again, its a ferrari, you aren't buying it to beat the rodded up nova in the 1/4.....its a work of art.....too bad the fool didn't give u a run..no offense but maybe he didn't know what your L was.....it seems most of the public still doesn't realise what these 2nd gen trucks are all about....which isn't necessarily a bad thing. <g>

Well having run a F355 not long after I bought my L I can say that unless it's a good driver behind the wheel of the Ferrari the L is more than a match. I ran this guy 3 times,all were wins,he seemed to be fighting the gear box something fierce.He was not a happy camper.We "ran" a fourth time,I let him go so i could get in behind him to see what model I had just killed...F355,red,looked brand new."Poor" guy I was I had those kindda' problems.

at the bottom are the timed results. My L more than kept up with the 911s, even the new ones. Driven properly, these can be fast trucks in the twisties. That said, I certainly wouldnt be able to hang with a well driven Ferrari.

Hey Nathan don't sell yourself short on keeping up with Ferari 355 Spider At $150,000 it makes for a good victory. Those things are hard to shift and not that powerful, and no faster than a chipped L. They have better brakes and that could be the difference. I was out driving the 911 today and the only advantage over the L is the fact that it is so much lighter and tossable. On a tight course it would have an advantage.

I ran into some middle aged guy in a F355 Spider a few months ago, but I was in my Stang. I said to him "Hey we both have V8 convertibles with little silver horseys on them, what do ya say we trade?" He just laughed as the light changed and he turned.

Oh well, still waiting for my loan,
3.5 months till I can start seriously thinking about my L.

Redhot: Nice choice in cars/trucks And you're right, the L would keep up well. It would take a very good driver to exploit the difference. I'm suprised someone like taht was driving, it's not what I generally see around here. Must be more money out there in California heheh

drove a 911 carrera 2 cabrio today at work (i valet park).....the guy handed me a $20 and said go make it shine...so as my buddy flipped me off, i shrieked out of the lot and headed to the car wash......anyway these things are slugs.......my 5.0 could take it and the L would humiliate it.....

it was a 5 speed and had the little engine in the rear, and the wing raised up in the back mechanically.

anyway the guy knew i was gonna whip it a little, he wanted me to have fun......again, i only took it off the property because he asked me to, i would never do it without customers permition.
