BlueOvalNews has learned that Ford will enhance the totally awesome 2001 Lightning to be even meaner, nastier and faster than the 1999 and 2000 models.

For beginners the 01 Lightning's computer will be recalibrated to support the changes which include:
• A new and larger intercooler which will be relocated to the front of the intake manifold.
• A new lower intake manifold that is about 5/8" shorter and a little narrower to help increase velocity.
• A 90mm mass air meter. <Gulp>

I think they all are considered 2001.5, It's just easier to say 01. I know when I first looked at one,it was listed as a 99.5, that's just because of the time it comes out (around March) I think, don't quote me on that. But i'm possitive they are the same.

Question

So, after reading this article, I have a question

I just got on the list for an '01.... is this the same as the '01.5, or is there going to be 2 seperate models?

It says that Job 1 will be 10/23 (which I think we know didn't happen) for the 01.5, but I've heard that Job 1 for the 01 will be 12/4

Can anyone explain the difference (if there is any...)

90mm mass air
4.5 inch aluminum drive shaft

I wonder what the "fine tuned" suspension adjustments are.

I heard from here possibly that the intercooler for the 01 will be retro-fittable, with 2 more rows. Forgot who mentioned it, but is that true?

I wonder if we'll be able to use the 90mm mass air unit on our trucks. I'm all over that aluminum driveshaft too.

I'd say the carbon driveshaft is better. If the drive shaft was to break, the carbon drive shaft would shatter into pieces, the aluminum would bend and still would tear things up under your truck. Also the Carbon DS is lighter, by how much I don't know. I think it was said that the carbon ds weighs around 15 lbs.? Correct me if i'm wrong people.
