Post Traction ideas? Share them here

Ok, I'll start this one off, I have 2 ideas that I want to do: Move the battery behind the right rear tire, under the bed corner. And instead of sandbags, Why not take a 2x2 or 3x3 inch solid bar 5-6 feet wide, weld a 2x2 inch piece on with a hole for the trailer hitch. pin on or bolt on, quickly removeable, & extra rear end protection! Any other ideas? Lloyd

Cool

M.T. E/T Streets 26 x 10.5 x 16 (17 PSI hot), Cal-trac traction bars (preloaded), and 75 shot of the juice (good for getting 1.7x 60 foots at good tracks)

**Note this works for our truck, results may vary**

(always wanted to say that)

I was going to install Cal-tracs, but hesitated because they will compromise the handling. Then, this morning, someone on this board pointed me to this web site: http://www.activesuspension.com
I ordered a set this morning and just got a call from the dealer saying they would be here tomorrow morning, bring my truck in and get them installed. I have an appointment in the morning to get my carbon drive shaft installed, but after that, if there is time, I will get the active suspension device installed. Otherwise, Monday. I will be the guinea pig for the board.

Oops, I forgot to point out that the p/n for the F150 on the Roadmaster web-site is incorrect. The Lightning requires p/n Mk.II XS.

Alphadoggie, I was thinking of getting the active kit. I'll wait for your post. I know et streets & cal tracs will help, but I am interested in something that will work all the time, without compromise. Lloyd

The racelogic system looks very interesting. Thanks for the link. I have ASR (traction control) in my C36 which responds fairly quickly, but still cuts too much power. Their 6-way adjustable system looks like it might cure that. Has anyone on this board considered or used this system on any vehicle?

Question

Alpha: I dont follow... how's the www.activesuspension.com deal going to help traction? The website mentions everything but wheelspin... sway, lean, wheel hop, bottoming out, etc.

Azeem, if all it does is reduce wheel hop, and my experience suggests that it does, this is a big contribution to improved traction. When the wheels are in the air not only do they have no chance to get any bite, there is no resistance so under power the tires will rotate faster and spin like hell when they do come back to earth. Maybe wheel hop isn't that big a problem on a perfectly smooth race course or drag strip, but it sure can be a problem on the normal irregularites of the street. I agree that it doesn't supply more traction- I think only stickier tires or more weight in the rear could do that- but it does mitigate one condition, ie. wheel hop, that can result in reduced traction. I am glad I put them on the truck.

I plan to move the battery to the rear. The addtional space under the hood could be used for an ice bath or an additional cooling reservoir. What about a bypass on the air conditioner compressor to cool the new reservoir to cool the intercooler...

Thoughts anyone?
