Cervini functional ram air kit, Dec 00' MM&FF
Looks sweat, comes with a new upper intake inlet (straight, not curved off to the side) and has dual flat K&N filters feeding off of the twin ram air inlets. The MAF is move in front of the throttle body. It's shaped like a T with the top of the T being the filters and the shaft of the T being the inlet tube/MAF/upper inlet.
Says in the article that he has a simplified design using the stock airbox location and inlet to save money. I like his disign in the mag, its SWEAT!
Nothing on availability yet......Will call this week and find out for sure.

I have been waiting FOREVER for that ram air kit. Sounds killer! Did it sound like it was still in testing or ready for production? Is the December issue of MM&FF out already?
Someone had posted before that this type of setup was not recommended as you wouldn't get enough air at idle or low speeds, but I don't see how the other filter setups are any different.

i believe this is a pic of what it looks like, thepawn posted some pics from E-town and this was one of them, he also has some other good pics posted for all to check out.http://www.atlantis.edu/~thepawn/etown_weekend/jdm_ramair_intake.jpg i would have put up the but i don't really have permission, maybe someone could contact him and he could elaborate more on set up.
Hi,
Saw the pictures that "The Pawn" posted from Engish Town, system looks nice. Did any one wonder about the performance with that system. Since the air meter looks to be less than a foot away from the throttle body is there any problem with air reversion. What was the performance for that vehicle. I want to check if there is a minimum theoretical distance for placement of air meter to throttle body (I thought there was). Just curious, so I wanted to raise a question. Please do not take this as a slam, I just like to know details.
PS. Since I raised the question, I also sought out the answer. Checking on MAS / TB placement theory and I was told there should not be an issue. Now the question is how much does the system cost.

BABolt,
The installation was clean. The welds could have been a bit neater, but Jim D'Amore has the L cleanest engine compartment I've seen. Check out the intercooler tank. He has even re-arranged the plumbing so you can see the spark plugs.
He was dialed at 12.90 or so on street tires. He wasn't blazingly fast, and I don't know what other mods he has.
IMO, I don't see how the engine can get enough air from those two scoops, especially when the vehicle is stationary.
Jim is the owner of JDM Engineering in Freehold NY. You might want to give him a call.

I asked Jim if I could take the pictures of his engine and he said no problem.
I overheard him talking to Sal of PSP about the RAM Air while I was taking the pictures. It is actually the "4th" generation of the RamAir unit already for testing. The recent change was a baffle in the middle to divide the two channels because they were previously getting two much turbulence from the air running into itself.
I don't know how much it does for performance, but it sure did look cool. His engine was arranged VERY nice...his custom intercooler tank was sweet, all the pastic was modeled and all! I wish I had those sorts of resources. It looked like it was two seperate tanks with one cover. One tank actually held the intercooler fluid, the other surrouneded it and was filled with ice-water that could be drained.

it's not like I thought it would be. I expected some type of pan to fit under the hood and channel the air to the stock air box. i hope the set-up that is shown will be able to work on a 4.2L or they atleast design one that does.
Well you can drive a ram air firechicken or a SS in the rain right? Would there be any difference driving this L combo in the rain then?
