Lightbulb NEW LO-TEK 2 POD REVIEW

I received the new Lotek 2 pod unit for review. Here are my comments and pictures.

Overall color and quality appears good. Measurements taken reveal the Lotek pod to be 1/2" shorter than factory unit. Therein lies the problem.

When fitted to the top there is a gap at the bottom and when fitted to the bottom there is a gap at the top.

Packing was in a triangular Priority Mail container that did not fair well in shipping. No doubt the unit had been freshly painted and the paint had not set up well but some was scrapped off in shipping in four places. Back side photo shows factory unit with four attaching points and Lotek with only one. I'm not sure this is a problem, I am just noting differences. I had a gauge I could put in one of the pods and I did not find the angle objectionable and the fit was fine.

The mold will have to be lengthened for this unit to fit as the factory unit fits. The shipping container needs to be changed.
Jim--I'm returning this unit to Lo-tek as you would not want it due to the paint and other problems mentioned above.
Noel

Great shots. Yes, go ahead and ship back. That is exactly what is wrong with mine, too short. I was hoping that they had fixed the problem.

The single clip into the pillar seems to work OK. At least two clips would have been better.

Noel

I adjusted your shot so that the top of the pillar could be seen.

This is exactly how mine is. Towards the roof and windshied there is enough of a gap to put my finger into. NOT GOOD

noelvm - Your pics look pretty much the same as the ones I posted. And your comments are pretty much the same as the ones I made. Lyle was concerned with the negative posts made about the Lo-Tek products for the L and asked you to evaluate and give and honest opinion.

Well at least it's good to know that Lo-Tek got an honest opinion - finally.

With two (3 if you count FordSales)people having first hand experience with their L products, and 2/3 people coming to the same conclusions, I wonder if Lyle will be asking for others to try this out and give more honest opinions?

Maybe if you bribe Sal of PSP with some new power tools he might make another of his custom 4-pod A-Pillars. It looked really sweet at ETown. Its a one of a kind item though.

It looks kinda on the thin side too, what will the sun and/or heat do to it in the future?

Noel, thanks for posting the pics on this latest and greatet attempt on this part.

I got my pod the same day as Jim did and still don't know if I should even bother to send it back or not. I think I can modify mine to get it to fit, it just pisses me off about the fit quality of this part. I guess that I am concerned about shipping back and forth just to get what you got

LightningKid - They claimed that they found out about a plastic "shrinkage" problem with the first batch and made another batch using plastic that didn't shrink. Noel was supposed to get one from the non-shrinking batch to eval. Doesn't look like the use of non-shrinking plastic fixed the problem.

Excuse me, I think I hear the plastic in my computer shrinking......
