Shocks and swaybars?
Edelbrock is indeed making shocks for the Lightning. I have a set on order. I don't have the part numbers at this time but they are available.....I had to call my friend's shop over in N.Y. to have him call the Edel rep to order them. He didn't simply order F150 shocks...these were Lightning specific.
Someone on this list did the beta testing and R&D for the shock itself.
Secondly......lowering isn't always the answer. I lowered my truck using Eibach springs and chassis tech shackles. I was thoroughly disappointed and I don't want to get into it that much here. I am not a novice at this and have been lowering and modifying suspensions for a long while myself. What I experienced was poor handling, unpredictable jounce and a truck riding on the front bumpstops. This was with a supposed 1.5 inche drop in the front.
So...I put the stock stuff back on and needless to say, I am happy once again. They don't just slap this stuff together, it is designed for a reason. Several reasons may have been the cause of this....the shackles, while well designed are not always the best way to lower. The shock length may also have been a problem....still....I didn't like it one bit!
The only change I made was to incorporate some Urethane bushings into the front sway bar. This has worked very well and has gotten rid of some of the poor rebound control that the stock shocks have. The Edelbrock shocks should take care of the rest. I rode in another friends F150 on the weekend with a Edelbrock shock. They felt superb!!!!
no criticism intended, just posting my results....

Hey Collin,
I went to the track last Thursday and turned a 13.41 with the R9 chip.
We need to get together and go this Thursday.
This week and next week are the last two Test & Tunes until next season.

No one is making shocks specifically designed for the L... F150 shocks will fit, but you'll get a softer spec shock... even the Roush shocks are valved softer than the stock L shocks.
Dont know about sway bars... same deal I'd guess... you could go custom... but be careful not to screw up the very balanced handling with the stock sway bars.
Just lowering it will help with the sway.

Paul,
Thanks for the honest reply. I will try to find someone to order the shocks. And you just sold me on not lowering the truck, as I was on the fence.
Chuck,
Sorry I haven't called you back. That is a great E. T. !!!! I will try to go this Thursday if I get my truck back. It is getting intercooler replaced this week and alignment with cam bolts.
BTW, I got my R9 a couple of weeks ago and I cannot run it in position #2 without horrible detonation. However, in position #1, it runs better than the Hypertech so I'll probably just leave it there.

Collin.....
Don't get me wrong here....lowering isn't a bad thing....just make sure you buy the right components. A complete package like the Roush setup seems to be excellent according to those who have it. I did it the cheaper route and sometimes that isn't always the best way....
