Newbie on board...

I just bought an 01 lightning with 88k miles on it. I have to drive it everyday. I was about to buy a 4lb lower pulley, K&N fipk intake, 160* thermostat, diablo tuner. Is this a bad idea on a high mileage 01? Thanks in advance for the help.

Add a wide band oxygen sensor and you'll be golden.

I would stick with a 170 or 180 t-stat. There have been some posts indicating that the 160 may not be the best even though it's the coldest of the 3. (or however many you are considering). Just my .02.

peace

p.s. -- Go with a SCT flash tuner. My buddy has had both and he liked his SCT much much better than his diablo predator. Also a FTVB (search) and 58" JDM-style traction bars wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Do these motors like to run around 12/1 air fuel ratio? Just curious. I am going to dyno as soon as I get my parts to get a good tune.

Mine is an 01, built motor. it is currently 12.5/1. I ran the stock motor around 12/1. The FIPK,160 thermo, 4#pulley and tuner should do the trick. Do it all at the same time and you will be suprised at the difference. A wideband wouldnt be a bad idea. I ran 16 psi on my stock motor (stock Eaton) for almost 2 years. I also ran a 160 thermo from PSP during that same time period...no problems.....8.1 in the 1/8 mile all day long.. Good luck.

I am running a 160 therm in my caddy and they did not recomend it, but I have not had any problems with it. The only thing that sux is that I have very weak heat now.

I think I will go ahead and do the 6lb pulley. I am just afriad of puking a plug. Is there any early warning on this or does it just happen? I also need to clean my intercooler. Is this a pretty simple task or will it take me most of an afternoon? Thanks for the help guys.

Go with the 4 at most, with 88k on the Odom. I also prefer the SCT products.
I run my a/f at 11.5:1 (its a tad on the safe side). Don't go above 11.8:1 though

If you have the extra $$ go with the 6 and start counting down.

Well, I ordered the aem wideband gauge. Where is the best place to put the o2 sensor on these trucks for an accurate reading? I ordered the triple a-pillar pod cause I have some gauges around the house. I will probably watch air/fuel, oil pressure and boost. I also think I'm going to change the trans filter and fluid cause I am getting close to 89k.

The driverside exhaust manfold, as it tends to run a bit leaner.

sent you an email...hit me up, there are several L's north of birmingham. Try the link, a couple shots of my truck and some videos from a street car shoot out. At that time the truck was still on the stock block, SC and exhaust manifolds.
