I hate to say it but all things are relative. We can all go to tracks that are farther away and run a better E T but that isn't feasible always. It would be nice to go to Ennis , Texas and run 3 tenths faster on a sticky sea level track but the fact remains that Milan, as bad as it seems at times, is within an hour to most of us here. It is convenient to get to off US23, and they have water , air, bathrooms, food, and they readily give rainchecks out with no hassle(Detroit never did, they would screw you). They tech you fairly quickly(now that the a-----e got fired) and when they aren't crowded it is a good time. Also , how many tracks are open to test and tune on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday?(you can T and T between rounds on weekends). It sucks that they are now the only game in town and they show it sometimes with attitude but it could be much worse. They could be out of business and we would have nowhere to play. When I hit the "Big Game" lotto, I will open a friendly track for all with Hooters girls working the lanes ,I promise.

JMHO,

Truck Lover

Talking

I did some checking today and spoke with Wayne McMurty (sp) of the NHRA in regard to the effect of street tires on a drag strip surface. Yes, in fact street tires do peel off the thin rubber surface that is laid down and yes it does take extra preparation to maintain a good surface. We talked about Milan and he told me that Bill had contacted him. He said that Bill wants to improve his track and I told him that would be great and I would also like to help in some way. For a start let I would like to lay off the criticism and see what happens next season.

PS. No great sucking sound and no vacuun cleaner running in the background.

If Bill is serious about making improvements, then he should also be up front about admitting deficiencies, and be willing to kiss a little customer a**.

The e-mail I received from Milan - which may or may not have been from him - and the other one I saw, were extremely defensive and denigrating to the customer who took the time to write.

I too would rather race, than bitch about bad racing at Milan. I hope they get their act together and I would like to hear what his plans are.

Cool

Hi Bob
They told us that if we are with you that we can just pass on through. Also not to worry about tech inspection that has been waved too. They are to have beer and hot dog vouchers and will spray the track with VHT just for us. Thanks Bob for comming through. Just one big problem none of this is true.
See Ya DUDE! Good luck tonight.

They ripped you guys off. They told me bikini clad Hooter girls would place bags of ice on my SC and keep me company in the staging lanes too.

Milan is the worst track I've been to. Norwalk is just in another league no point in comparing that one ( God am I lucky I live only 15 minutes from there ). Dragway 42 is a track that I would put in the same class as Milan. 42 however preps the track at all events, even street nights, and puts some of the profits back into the track to continualy improve it. Thompson (only track east of Cleveland) has a bit of a monopoly too. Street tired cars have it tough, just as slick as Milan (too cheap with the VHT). I have a hard time running 13.8's at Milan or Thompson with my Cobra. Like 42 Thompson also is trying to improve, unfortunately they only put VHT down right before first round eliminations. That really makes dialing in the car fun. What really tears the ruber off the track is tire spin off the line. So I think if they put more VHT down to limit spin, they will lose less rubber on the line. Slicks only leave a layer of rubber if there is VHT down. If they are that concerned with water being tracked up to the line, they should consider setting the burnout box at the far rear of the track (42 and Thompson do this). That way the cars would back into the water (front tires stay dry), and the ones that want to avoid the water just pull up and never get wet. An added bonus is no more FWD cars doing water burnouts, and having the wet rears dripping at the line ): I would also suggest some gravel to cover the dirt/sand/mud in the pits.
