Hey whitelightnin'
I'm going to step out of character for a bit because I really get tired of having to deal with butt holes that want to plaster things over with their own stupid feces. Go check the old posts and then READ them too.
Next do a little test, find a Gunning - Fogg index it will test your reading comprehension level. You may then have found the source of the problem.

Wow!!

Nothing like a post like this to bring out the old timers on the Lightning thread.

I think I posted my dyno results first in July 1999. 329 at the rear wheels with just a first gen Superchips chip at 100 degrees and with no learn time and no battery disconnect. Must have seen at least 50 posts after that giving dyno results with about every mod we have all done.

e/ts talk dynos walk, swanson chip and pro m 12.968 106.9.there must of been a dozen gen 2 Ls at the r/t vs L thing and other than casper [jerry] mine was the fastest at milan skating rink13.10 105.4 excluding nos of course.that highrisk is in a different league. i think i proved that the pro m does imcrease e/t,and that is all i care about.i have also proved the bassani system does not increase e/t even though, some dynos say that it should.white lightning if dyno numbers work at the track then i should have over 400 rwhp.but i think not.jerrys chip was custom burned with a dyno at pauls high performance.this is were a dyno really comes in handy over a mail order chip like i have. later

Not to get into a pee-pee contest here, but I did take the time to go back and look at a bunch of dyno test postings as well as 1/4 mile results.

Please, someone correct me if I am off (and I know you will), but my read of the combined experience of a lot of us would look sort of like this.

The most common combination seems to be one of several manufacturers latest chips, one of several air intake systems and some form of exhaust changes ranging from header to tip to just taking off the mufflers.

That combo on the dyno, and I am not using a slide rule here, seems to average out at around 360 to 375 hp at the wheels. Depending on which correction factor you use to get to flywheel hp, that should give us around 440-450 hp at the flywheel. Adequate I should think.

1/4 mile times are a bit less easy to figure, but such a truck should do the dance in around 13.3 to 13.5 on a decent track with a reasonably skilled pilot. Better tires and better technique at a killer track might net us 13 flats once in a while.

Personally, I will never know. I don't race at the track. As well, I have not dynoed my latest combo. But.....I can bask in the borrowed sunshine of those who do as the results seem to be remarkably consistent mod for mod.

So, when a Rice Rocket pilot asks me "What's it got and whaddle she do?", I say 440 horsepower and 13.5 in the quarter and not feel a bit like I'm fudging.

To finish this one, I enjoy the chip/s as much for driveability as I do for power. I enjoy the exhaust for the sound although I could have bought a CD of the Winternationals for 1% of the cost. I enjoy the PSP intake for the sheer joy of the sound of an unmuffled supercharger. That I also got about 25% more power and could in theory reduce my 1/4 mile time by 10-12% is just an added bonus for me.

As usual, Bill just summed it up for everybody who has been here since the beginning. Thanks for always being there, Bill. I completely echo your sentiments.

I have told the same story ever since I got my truck, to those who would listen, that all I was looking for was a truck that would run 13.50's on the street. Period. I am talking about street tires, no octane boost, no wait while I flip my chip, no let me put on my drag radials. And this is not a flame towards anyone, just what I am looking for from my truck.

I drive my truck everyday and on trips mostly. It has 25,000 miles on the clock and right this minute it is dirty enough from driving to construction sites and dusty harescramble last weekend that most of you would probably shoot me! But that's what is so great about this board, we all drive our trucks differently and want different things from them.

I just pray that SVT keeps on making these trucks b/c it is the only thing on my mind when I trade in another couple of years.

Later,

Collin

Well put Gents!

I would have to agree here. When I posted my dyno results a while back, I was getting a great horsepower number. This was the maximum horsepower rating. So, when analyzing one's horsepower readings, it is also important to take that into consideration. Usually on a dyno-jet you get a maximum reading and an average reading. I didn't have too much experience with this sort of thing, but credit BaBolt for pointing that out. So, in essence, the mods that I put on my truck (PSP and Borla) turned out to be making some extra power, which was nice. I gather with the PSP filter and the Borla, I gained about 20 HP (average...of course).

Post the dyno reports when you advertise HP gains. (Prove fan-wash!) Babolt, I really appreciate your comments. How mature! I refuse to search the threads. Post on your supposed improvement. I can do without your rhetoric, sire. Really professional your prose. I am really impressed. Mr. MTI out of Houston would never advertise and sell modification goodies without substantiating HP dyno reports. Just because I refuse to go along with you "good ol' boy" syndrome is just that. If you don't like it, take a hike. I am lodging a complaint with the site admin for your "foul mouth!"...no name was mentioned in the original post...I have seen it in the past...I have been a victim of it...unsubstationated claims of HP increase without dyno reports...the original post was done as a public service from 25 years of hot rodding, Mr.
