hi CA, i can get hi 12's now in the cool weather, and low to mid 12's with the giggle gas. anyway last saturday my neighbor, who owns the local Lincoln Merc dealership was pulling out of his drive with one of his old toys. a mint blue AC-Cobra 427. he was bringing it to the office to show it off (in the showroom) with a crappy "for sale" sign on the windshield that read "125K NO OFFERS/ NO TEST DRIVES", classy huh? well i blocked his exit to the highway to check it out, and told him i'd race him for pinks. he laughed and said theres no way any truck, even a lightning, could keep up with his baby. but since his was worth 125K (to him), he couldn't afford a screw up that could cost him the car, and he knew i'd never risk it anyway. so we agreed to a friendly 1/8 mile or so, on the nearly deserted back road that leads to our houses. from a stop, that thing hooks up better than the Viper GTS i picked on a while back. i didn't use the nitrous until 2nd and started to catch up, but still lost the 1/8 by 6-8 lengths, that little thing had some major stick. so you got your kill story, another 12 sec lightning dead.

Cool

I used to own a 98 Cobra with all kinds of mods and remember running a 2000 GT on the freeway, it was close but I still got him at the end. About 20 minutes ago I had some youngin's in a yellow 2000 GT rev on me on the freeway so I punched it AFTER he did...I RIPPED HIM A NEW A$$HOLE!! I purchased my L just over a week agoe and MAN DO I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Hey CA remeber this I figured that i would bring this up
The Lightning is my shepard
I shall not want no other
It maketh me burnout in black pavements
It leadeth me besides busy freeways
It restoreth my faith & soul
It leads me down the path of quickness
For its names sake
Yea,though I walk through the valley of Sycolons&Typhons
I shall fear no turbo
For torque art with me
Thou preparest a track before me
Thy bearings have been annointed with oil
My Lightning over powers all
Surely traction & victory shall follow me
All the days of my life
And I shall dwell in the house of the
SUPERCHARGED V8 FOREVER!
Maybe judgement day, give the competition what they
have been asking for.

That's so cool, burninout. Can I have permission to e-mail it to my friends?

Speaking of kills, i got killed by an old Plymouth van the day i got my chip. My buddy is driving his van and i'm following him back to his house, when we pull up side by side at the stoplight at Rosecrans and Sepulveda. They were doing street work on Sepulveda, and too late I noticed that there were a lot of loose cinders, etc, in my lane. I knew my pal was going to nail it, so when the light turned green we both got on it. The front driver hooked up real well on firm pavement, while i just sat and spun my wheels in the marbles. he was 3 car lengths ahead by the time i got traction, but it was all over as soon as i did, passed him like he was nailed to the ground. but, he never misses the chance to remind me of the day that his old van "beat" my big, bad Lightning.

I pulled up to a stoplight the other day and lo and behold, there was a Toyota Echo next to me. Noticed him glancing over. Looked ahead and saw that the road ahead narrowed to one lane.

Flipped the tranny into to neutral to clear the beast's throat. Gave it a quick rev. Glanced to my right... and oh my God,... I had blown the Echo over onto its side. I was outta there!

Does that count???

Red face

Something about the topic caught my eye....

A couple of weeks ago our company had an afternoon picnic/game day where all the employee's got together for fun, food and games, on the company. On the way there a co-worker who has a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.9L pulled up beside me at a light. He yelled out the window "I know I am gonna lose, but let's go" He is an admirer of the L and since we work together I said OK. The beasty is loaded at 1100 RPM and when the light changes I drop the hammer....and watch as the Jeep launches without a sound from the tires and quickly runs away. I look down and see the tach at 5K but I am not going anywhere. My brain kicks in and I realize that since it is 45 degrees outside I have no traction on the asphalt. I also remembered that I had 30lbs of air in the tires as I had been pulling my boat the previous weekend. I look in the rearview mirror and see a cloud of tire smoke - cool, but suddenly the backend of beasty kicks to the left and I realize I spun thru 1st and into second, fishtailing a little. I let off and quietly cruise on looking for my friend in the Jeep. Yea, I lost and badly, but at least everyone behind me got a good show of an L burnout (and maybe a laugh at being left so badly).

CA - Street races? in Aurora? cool... I had been hanging out at Fazoli's (sp)? on Sundays but that was very boring. There is a get together at the Sonic on Hampden and Tower I think every Sunday, I am not sure. E-mail me at bordie@home.com and let me know where all the "cool" rides hang out. I love hotrods - any make or model. There are some people from LS1.com that are from Aurora as well - would love to B.S. with them, too.

Mike I hadn't realized that you were from Aurora. Awesome. What color is the truck and are you a member of LOCO yet? We weren't street racing in Aurora...haven't done that since illegal drags at Old Tower...I know of the Sonics you are talking about and Wells and I made it over to Fazolis while MN and Red were in town before we headed over to shotgun *******. The street races were out in Longmont. That was fun. We might be doing it this weekend too. I'll email you and let you know.
