Smile R9 for sale-NOT!!

My R9 switch chip came in yesterday so I ripped the box open like a kid at Christmas and proceeded to make the install. The whole time I was mentally preparing myself for the letdown. I have had several different brands of chips in various vehicles and NONE of them has ever made any performance difference including a Superchip I had for a 94 Splash 4.0 I have been reading the posts on this board since before I bought the L and it was due to all the testimonials that I decided to try the superchip. Man, was I happy when I took it on the test drive!! I couldn't imagine how everyone was saying traction is a big problem with the R9 but let me tell you-it is. Before this truck wouldn't spin on the street unless you torked it up intentionally trying to force it to. Now you can't even take off easy without some slippage. This may be bad, though cause I'm supposed to hook up today with another 2000 L that is totally stock. I'll post the results of that as soon as possible. Sorry for the long post but I'm about to pee all over myself because of this Superchip!

That's about how excited I was switching from the original Superchip to the R9 - it turns the truck into a killer machine!

mine started pinging today...
its okay slowly building up to 120+
but if i go WOT, *tink**tink**tink* crap.
guess i'll try some octane boost before calling mike t.
just driving around town is fine, short bursts of WOT at track & around town are okay too... just if i hammer down for 8-10 seconds..
any thoughts?

Hi AUTOMAN,

Glad you're enjoying the R9 Superchip programming, it is a real performance gain on these Lightnings, no question about it.

One of the differences between R9 and previous versions is the power available below 3000 rpm, an area we didn't push as far as we could have previously due to traction considerations. However, it was decided that the best thing for everyone would be to make all the power it is possible to make safely, and let people sort out their own traction problems.

Have fun,

Hey Kristi: I like your web page. I have always wanted an African Gray, and of course you can't find a sweeter bird than a ****atoo - I used to have an umbrella one.

That is too funny. I notice that censorship central has cut off part of the word describing the type of bird you own Kristi lest it be some unspeakable word.

How nice! Thanks! They are my babies. I hope to get their webpages updated soon.
LOL at the censorship... maybe that is why they are simply called "toos" on avian message boards

Kristi:

Our "too" was so sweet, my kids could lay down with it, and cover it with a blanket, and it would lay there with them like a little doll. Of course he also liked to eat our wall paper.

Obviously the bird was offering a critique of your wallpaper pattern. Maybe you need to consult an interior designer. j/k

Well my wife selected the wall paper, and we are no longer married. I guess the bird had the best taste in the family. If he could have only talked, perhaps we would have had a spiffy place. I did consult an interior designer, but he started an affair with, and ultimately ran off with the bird.

Thumbs up

Yep, I felt the same way about the R9 when I took my first test drive with it installed. I couldn't stop grinning and laughing
