Can any one explain to me in more detail than what I have read, is the boost bypass a good thing or not really? I'm just staring out with doing mods and I was reading about it on this page. Its seems harmless and very cheap to do but just wondering if there is any really point to doing it thanks. This forum has really help me out. Thanks to everyone for there help.

If you computer reads an overbost condition (usually during burnout at hte starting line) it will open the boost bypass and your truck will make ZERO boost... hello 17 second run!

 

yup so basically it's a useless mod for driving day to day, but at the drag strip instead of having the vac. line parts you could just unplug after arriving and plug back in before leaving.

 

Hey Austin svt thats a pretty cool pic, kept seeing something moving as I was reading the post above...thought it was my imagination.

BTW unplugging that will prevent the computer from doing it via the electrical circuit, but if I am not mistaken boost can be regulated by vacum as well. You should do both if you run at the track often.....On the same note, I ran mine for a year without this mod and never had it happen to me...others have but mine never did it.

 

The best way to control the boost actuator through a custom tune so that it can remain functional when street driving but then under heavy acceleration be disabled so that maximum boost can be attained. Talk to a tuner about this.

BUT DO NOT DO BOTH, either the boost bypass mod or through the ECU.
