Cool Blown Cobra Kill and New Motor for IC leak

Get a new motor...It is in stock and gets to the dealer a hell of a lot quicker. Mine has
about four grand on the motor and 38500 on the rest of the truck. That is everything except the cats, O2 sensors , drivers seat cushion and cover. Oh and the third tonneau cover just went on. It looks to be the best made one of the three. New wheels all the way round because the originals started to peel ever so slightly on the inside of the lug nut holes. Even had stick on weights put on and they are balanced just as well as if they were the ugly lead ones stuck to the outer side of the rims. Looking into new shocks. Oh, I do have a couple of scratches on the plastic trim piece over the firwall from the motor install. I could get a new one...but haven`t yet.

Killed a red 97 ,? Cobra the other day. He was respectable with the 9 lb. powerdyne. He says his buddy gets him in his Lightning also. Nice dude, we chatted afterwards. He was running what looked to be MT streets outback. F1's on mine. Stop light to stop light. Couple lenghts.

Hey there, you say you are getting your motor replaced again? How did you get another tonneau cover? I plan on taking my truck in next week for the intercooler leak, and I have a nice spider crack on my tonneau, 24k miles, and the crack's been on the tonneau since 11k miles, but I know they won't beleive me.

Nice kill on the Cobra, seems like one of the faster years.

How is that Type R with the supercharger? I have a very close friend with one (00 yellow ITR, ran 14.42@98 with header and intake) and he plans on doing exactly that in the next few months. Would you mind emailing me the performance gains, and costs? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Very glad to hear the new motor is in and running strong.

Great job on the Cobra kill...too bad for that guy. Someone has obviously taken him to the cleaners as far as tuning his supercharged combination.

Even a mediocre tune on a blown 4v 4.6 will yield over 380rwhp, most of the time you're talking 430+rwhp if not more...and this is on an otherwise bone stock 4v 4.6 motor. This is good for high-11s in a 3500lb car. WA out of range for every Lightning in the US except ONE on this board. Just hope people don't assume that this is the norm for a blown Cobra...its far from it.

Gotta agree with WA 2 FST.
A blown Cobra is a seriously quick beast.
There are few little enhansements a Lightning can make to beat one.
Most of the guys I know are making 425+ rwhp.
There are exceptions though, the driver sucks, slipping clutches, tuning wrong, but far and by large the blown cobra will prevail.

The cobra couldnt of been a 97. Powerdyne doesnt offer a kit for the 4v. Besides Even a weaknut 4.6 cobra will get at least 400rwhp.
(At least with a centrifugal supercharger.)
Might been a 5.0 liter.
My cobra with just some bolts on and stock pulley made 470rwhp before the rebuild.
