Smile first run with R9 & airaid

okay.. finally got to the track & run a few times. got 3 time trials & 2 runs. got tired and went home.
i'll scan timeslips if i need to.

temp was 80+ degrees
best reaction: .604
best 60 ft: 1.978*
best 1/8: 8.679 @ 81.52mph*
best 1/4: 13.543 @ 100.64*
(* = same run)

the track was soooooo slippery at first! (produced my worst run- 16.355)
found out i couldnt just stomp it anymore.

my friend josh ran his stock 2000 firebird formula (LS1, 6 speed) also.. his best was 13.824 @ 104.2mph

there was a dakota r/t there too. he had underdrive pullies, cold air induction, cowl induction hood & had lowered it.
ran some pretty consistant times. 15.1x!!!
he was a nice guy.

well, i had fun, tell me what you think.

I'm surprised that with a 1.978 60' time that you only ran a 13.543 to be honest. My best of 13.45 was with a 2 second 60' time. However that was done with a Pro-M MAF which I believe breathes better at speed. (It also pinged)

Beyond that my best with the R9 and PSP filter was 13.55 at 100 mph so I'd say you're the ballpark.

Fun though isn't it?

clonetek,

Your time(s) are right in line with what I ran using the R9 and Airaid. Hell, even the 60' was within a couple 1000ths.

What was your tire pressure configuration?

i was icing my intake down between runs for the first 3, then i forgot about doing it.
it was humid as heck out there.
didn't notice any ping at the track, but i havent heard any at all with the R9.

i was running 28-30 psi in the rear tires at the track.
i looked at them before & they are really worn out in the middle of the tread. it looked as if they were overinflated, but i had been running 32psi for 10K miles.

oh yeah... i had a brain fart the night before the races & filled up with gas. i raced with a full tank. doh!

Try 34-38 PSI in the rear tires.

Question

34-38psi?!?!
you are kidding, right?
put that much in 'em & they'll float off with my truck, like in the cartoons.

LS - it doesnt get "cool" down here in louisiana.. its either 102 or 30!!! 100% humidity, all the time.

Hi Clonetek,

Congratulations, sounds like you did well for the slippery conditions!

It will get quicker in cooler weather with less humidity, that's very true, as another poster mentioned.

Have fun,
