Red face Can someone splain this to me please???

OK, went to the track for the first time in my life (and have I been missing out!).

Did 3 runs and bit the big one on R/Ts BUT!

Left Right
R/T .829 .529 (SUX)
60' 2.239 2.090
330 6.055 5.914
1/8 9.158 9.002
mph 79.65 80.47
1000 11.839 11.698
1/4 14.130 14.338
mph 97.08 80.43

Right 1st .092

Now given that:

A) Eating "souped" Civics etc. for breakfast OBVIOUSLY doesn't say that I know how to drive my beast (the computer doesn't lie).

B) My R/T times bite <I WON'T post the 1st 2 runs thank you )(but practice will make perfect 5.xs)

C) I REALLY LOVE THIS TRUCK!

Why did right lane win (e.g. 1/4 14.130 vs 14.338 = my truck .208 faster?)

TIA

G

If you add in the difference in reaction times, the left lane was slower to cross the finish line, even though the ET was the better.

RT is measured from when the third yellow lights. ET is measured from when you cross the staging beam. Regardless of your reaction time, your ET would have been the same.

Cool

You lost exactly .300 seconds at the tree and gained .208 on the ET. End result, you lose by .092. The tree can be a cruel thing, believe me, I know.

Cool

That's right, even with all those fancy lights and electronic timing.... the one that hits the finish line first wins!

On a serious note... Years ago I had a Chevelle that I was taking to the track. One of the "old timers" gave me a great tip. Learn your best "launch" without trying to get a good R/T. Once you have your best launch sequence nailed, THEN worry about combining it with a good reaction time.

That's the only car I ever ran at the track, but I had a couple of bikes I ran. The guy was right. I got better ETs faster by dealing with them one at a time.

Just food for thought....
