Pro-M changers..
I'm just curious, those of you that have put on the Pro-M meter or any other aftermarket meter, if you went from a cone filter setup, did you notice any difference in power or boost?
I have re-worded my question so there is (I hope) no confusion!

If you had read any of the FAQ or other post you would know that the PRO-M comes with a filter so most people that bought it didn't waste their money on a filter they had to throw away when they bought the PRO-M. Secondly, you would have read that the most benefit is dirived when used in conjunction with a chip.

Well Noel,
I guess I've been around here for quit a while now and I don't recall anybody going from a cone to a Pro-M or equavalent. If you know of a thread that shows this, go ahead and post it. I'll check the FAQ's after I get done with this, but I doubt I'll find the answer to my question's. I see you don't have the answer for me though! As far as it coming with a filter, I already knew this. But for throwing their money away??? some people didn't plan on getting the meter and went with the likes of, say, Sal's filter setup. Whether or not a chip is used, the filter does benefit by itself for power and boost!
Now then, back to the main question's...
------------
OK, I have read the FAQ's and links. I have read that people have went both ways with comments on a new MAF. But none that I read, maybe I missed them (Please point them out) did they go from the cone to a Pro-M. I figured that I could get some response from the group of NEW people that went with your Group Purchase that may have went with the Pro-M after having the cone filter setup.
Thanks

Well, somewhere theres a post, someone asked about using the longer cone filter with the Pro-M and I asked the company. Theire reply was they tested the longer conical filter and found no gain which was why they went with the current size filter they include because it it is cheaper and works just as well. It was also noted that the pro-M was calibrated using the supplied filter and using a different filter could change the characteristics of the matchup.

Pro M offers 2 MAF setups for the L.
MAF with a filter.
MAF without a filter which is for use with the stock air box. This also could be used with an after market filter if you have one.

When adding the Pro-M to a already installed high performace air filter and not having a chip the dyno gains have been between 3-5 HP.

Thank You Noel and Red2000SVT. Other than Dyno results, did you notice any difference in boost or power? or is it just the calibration and metering of the different meter.
Any other's?

If you look inside the stock unit there is a vertical bar in the middle that reads the flow. It also impedes air flow. The Pro-M reads from one side and is open all the way across. Due to the fact that it allows more air in, it leans out the truck. Leaning out the truck (to a Point) makes it run faster. Also the PRO-M will measure more air than the factory unit. I sold 34 and nobody complained although several with superchips had to send their chips back to get rid of pinging. The superchip I have was programmed for a PRO-M and it works great.

I also had an Airaid filter kit, when I purchased the Pro-M in the group purchase. Was going to sell the Airaid setup until I took a closer look. I decided to install the Pro-M in the Airaid, but couldn't use the Airaid filter because of the mounting configuration of the Pro-M filter. I figured that the Pro-M was calibrated for the filter it came with, so I gave the Airaid filter to my buddy for his Explorer. Did it make a difference, I don't know. So I guess I can't answer your question, just waiting for it to warm up to 50 so I can was my truck.
Well I had the Downs filter setup with the powerstack filter on it. Changed to a special setup using the Downs Air tube and the Pro-M. On the very first drive I went around and the supercharger whine really didnt sound different and at first the driving experience wasnt much different either. Then I decided to start power shifting a lil bit, so I dropped it down into first and stepped on it, full throttle at 30mph. My L went sideways and kept spinning till I shifted into second, a feat it had never done till this day.
So you can take this for what you will, but I am not regretting the group purchase one bit.
