Phantom Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge
Planning to order and install a AM Phantom Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge on my 01 Lightning. Could anyone pls. advice on how and where to install the sender. Also could you pls. tell if I have to order some additional adapters etc. (Living in Denmark so I want to get it right the first time :O)) Regards Jan

This will adapt the sender to the shrader valve on the fuel rail. The shrader valve is located on the passenger side fuel rail. You are going to need a little tool to remove the shrader from the fuel rail. It is just like the valve stem on a tire.
Make sure there is no pressure on your fuel system, so try doing all this in the morning, after the truck has been sitting over night. Still hold a rag or something over the valve while removing it, just in case.
Make sure you put teflon on all threaded areas to prevent leakage... and be careful with that fitting, I've snapped on off in the fuel rail before at the track... not fun trying to fix that.
Anyone else add anything or clarify?

I did the same job about 3 months ago. I ran the braided fuel line straight up to the black shroud that runs across the entire back of the fire wall. I just ran it inside that going back across to the driver side where it exits. The sender is located just inside the shroud. it can be exposed to allow access but I keep it shoved back inside the shroud a little.....It fits like a glove and I havent had a problem. I used the paste thread sealer rather than the tape. I was told that the tape will eventually fail due to contact with fuel. I will try to get a link up for a pic if i can find one.

I'm sure the oil temp could be in the same place, but there is not much room there once you install that big @ss oil pressure sender there.

Sorry for the crude drawing but it gets the main idea across....
I think it is too tight there for a temp sending unit - maybe tie in where the factory cooler lines are ?

Don not use teflon tape!!!!
Some of the instructions say this specifically, some of them don't. Mine didn't.
Got home one day and was like wow, i smell gas........the whole underside of my hood was covered in gas, spraying up out of the threads.
Use teflon compound and make sure you don't put too much that it gets in the fuel rail. Easy install otherwise.

99SVT is correct on the required adapter (1/16 male NPT to 1/8 female) part# ATM-3280 at the shrader valve on fuel rail. I recommend you also use a 90 deg 1/8"NPT to AN4 at this location to kinda help keep it out of the way of getting to the two rear spark plugs on that side in the future.

You will need a 4' AN4 to AN4 fuel line and can run it either around the rear of engine or down passenger side to the front of engine and under SC, as I did, to a location on firewall. I'm told the Sending Unit does not like viberation!

This is a good location for Sending Unit to attach wiring connector for wiring to go through firewall to gauge.

I mounted my Sending Unit in a piece of winter pipe insulation to cut down on viberation.

why do that?
I just put my sending unit right on the fuel rail rather than running fuel lines all over the place.
You just need to lengthen the wiring harness about 4 feet which is easy.

I mounted my Autometer fuel pressure gauge right onto to the rail also - been on there two years with no problems. But if I had cams, and the engine "loped" I would have mounted the sender seperate from rail similar to Bill Bell's. Nice photos!
