KB making noise at idle and under NO load. (rotors hitting case)

Temp 30's,
when you start the truck, it sounds like something it hitting inside the blower. I'm not sure if it is the shaft, gears or the rotor's hitting the housing (case).
Once you tap the gas the noise goes away.
If the s/c is under load there is no noise.

Once the engine warms up, it is STILL there at idle

I recall that the first KB's had problems, what were those problems?

I've never heard rotor's hitting a case, but if I had to guess that is what it sounds like. but why would it go away under load>?

Maybe the coupler needs to be replaced.

that's not an option.

if the Couplers are shredded, does that mean the s/c is garbage or can they be replaced?

Definatley not rotor contact, because it would get worst off Idle. Sounds more like your boost baypass is off adjustment.(cavitation) Try pushing in the shaft upward into the bypass valve while the engine is idling, and see if lessens or goes away. Seen this before.

Pull the belt off , turn the pulley back and forth , you will feel play before it turns the rotors , then it's your green spider coupling inside, you can order them from KB for like $20. you'll have to pull the blower and remove the front of the case and you will see the coupling insert. Mine has been making noise and some has play in it for quite awhile, I have a spider ready to go , i'll pull it in a few weeks to install.

Easter grass, that made me laugh. Probably, because my KB's coupler fell victim to the Easter Bunny.

thank you gentlemen.

WHen I get a chance I'll pull off the belt and check for play, and also check for shaving in the oil... would those shavings effect the seals at all?
Is this something I can fix, or do oyu need special tools/press to get the seals on/off?
