Post Belt slip revisited

Here are some observations that I have made and you can take it for what its worth. I have had what sounds like belt slippage ever since I used the Swanson chip and now the R9 chip. Yesterday I received and installed the Gates mirco V belt part number K080660. I now have no noise either cold or warm at full throttle. Maybe someone (belt experts) can explain to me where my "noise" was coming from? If I didn't know better I could swear the new belt cured the problem. Maybe I just had some kind of stuff on my old belt that did not let it bite or grip enough....anyway I just thought I would pass on my observations..

Question

Jeff,

The belt you replaced, blower belt or accessory belt?

Thanks,
Jake...

I have the Swanson chip with no belt slip and there is another New Jersey board member without a chip, and I believe he has reported belt slip. Could these "slippers" be a monday build problem?

Mine slips too. No mods yet, heard it first time last week when I kicked it down. I was going 70 matted it and when it dropped down I heard a very loud squeal. Definetly the belt. FYI my pullies lok like they're polished now not black. 26k miles. New belt soon?

Cool

Brimster....I've been after the Swanson guys to speak up for a long time. I think they don't want to give their advantage away (just guessing).
Come on guys let the info flow (no pun).

Why do all of the Swanson guys also have the Pro maf? Recommended by him I thinks.

The gents I see on Friday nites, that seem to be the fastest, all run this setup. I can say, though, that nobody down here has the J/L setup. I think they're afraid of the amount of water close to the intake. It rains hard and heavy down here alot. At any rate let's hear it.

I have had like 3 differant programs on my Superchip(thanks Mike) with the latest being the R9. The Swanson chip is a single program setup where the Super is a dual. The Swanson IMHO makes ALMOST as much power as the R9. When I had the Superchip TRAC program both chips were very close to each other at the track. I did numerous runs with disconnecting the battery for a clean start with the PCM. I believe now the R9 is better than the TRAC progam I had. I still have not track tested the R9. The one thing that I did not like about the Swanson was the jack hammer shifts that the tranny made. I can handle WOT hard shifts but this chip was like this at all throttle positions. So now the Swanson chip sits on the desk here and the R9 Superchip is in. Mike T. is about as good as it gets for customer service...he is first rate. Hope this helps the curious...Also all of my belt slippage started with the TRAC and R9 Superchip as well as the Swanson. With this new Gates belt there is no squeal..

I had belt slippage only with the Swanson chip and that was backing off WOT, the trans would be thrown back into over drive so hard the belt would slip.

Danny reburned the program so that going from WOT to over drive was the same as stock. The slippage stopped. I have never had slippage with the R9 Super

hey all, i have a swanson chip and a pro m my best is 12.968 106.9 it is a dual chip street and strip .it shifts real hard and is not for everyone, but i have yet to see a r9 superchip in the twelves.the only other chip i would consider is the jl superchip, which i will purchase in the future.the pro m gained at least a tength in the 1/4 mile, and i have had no pinging or detonation. later
