It's the little things
The last 3 cars I've owned had a gas cap holder. Do the rest of you do what I do and balance the cap on the filler nozzle? As careful as everyone is here about their L, I figured you'd have a problem with the gas gap just hanging there on the paint. As often as I find myself at the pump, this is one big pain in the a$$.
Oh, btt, thanks to California roads after the first drizzle, I was introduced to how the L handles a massive tail slide. I was actually babying it around a left-hand corner of a major highway T intersection with a line of oncoming cars slowing down to stop to my left. As I completed 95% of the turn, I added just a pinch of throttle, being careful not to get too carried away until I got completely straight. There must have been the usual 9 months of oil buildup because the rear end instantly slid out to the right at about 50 degrees. I must have scared the hell out of everybody, because I decided to "get the feel for it" and rode it out (there was plenty of distance between me and the oncomers). Anyway, it snapped to proper attitude very quickly and of course I had to look as if it was intended, lest the onlookers soil their trousers.

What I do at the pump is get the nozzle in the hole, then lift the cap and have the gas door lean against the nozzle and it stays put.
That power move you did on the highway is called 'drifting' with the people into it, usually import racers. More and more people are getting into it, on the streets, kinda like out street racing, but these guys have seen professional drivers drift through a '35' mph turn at '90.' Its only a matter of time before someone breaks thier neck if you ask me.
Where's that glove box lock thats on 95% of all the other cars? Thats my only complaint.

I thought drifting is where all FOUR tires are sliding while you're coming around the curve (aka, the car is facing a direction different then its movement).
Wouldn't just the rear kicking out be a "power slide"? Like making that left had turn and nailing it hard so the rear-end swings out (just the rear wheels, front are still tracking correctly) 90-degrees to get you going the direction you want?

Pawn, I believe you are correct. Drifting include all 4 tires, so the whole car slides around the corners of the curve. Power Slides are just getting squirrly off of a turnand the rear end kicks out.
but I could be wrong, I have before!!!

Yeah, you see alot of car commercials (especially Nissan, they are a big one for it) with cars "drifiting" in their turns...its really cool, but until I find someplace that is HUGELY open with no damn LIGHT POLES, I don't think I'll be doing it.
I still have a hard time searching for a good place to do power slides without worrying about a careless driving ticket. *grumble*

AS FAR AS THE GAS CAP GOES, WHAT I DID WAS REMOVE THE CAP FROM THE TETHER (MERELY PULL IT OFF LIKR TAKING A BEER CAN OUT OF THE PLASTIC 6 PACK HOLDER) THEN TUCK THE TETHER BACK INTO THE OPENING. NOW IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I LOSE THE CAP BUT AT LEAST IT WON'T BE SCRATCHING THE TRUCK.
