Question Anyone using the Downs Air Intake

Hi all.

Anyone using the Downs Air Intake?

If so...how do you like it?

General Question...

With all the things I've read with people using Sal's filter, or the K&N filter, the predominate thing I see is that the blower gets up to 10psi

Isn't that bad for our superchargers?
Does that shorten their lifespan?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

K

Hey Kobiashi, I was running the Downs Ford intake on my lightning but was not real happy with it so I took it off. just running a flat panel K&N filter until I figure out which syatem I want to use next. did not see any boost gains using the Downs but the supercharger sound level was higher. construction of the whole intake setup is poor. I had to file open the metal hole for that air charge sensor because it did not fit at all in the housing when i got it new. I will sell the whole setup cheap if someone might be interested in it. thanks 95rcobra

I actually bought it so I could use the powerstack filter but then I ended up getting a Pro-M MAF so it was kind of all for nothing. Yet I didnt like the idea of having to cut my factory wires to get the air sensor to screw in the end of the K&N that came with the MAF, so I made a few adjustments with my Downs kit and set it up where I am now runnng both the Downs and the Pro-M and it works great with out ever having to cut anything.

I have the Downs intake. I bought it from Spiro, so I didn't have to do any filing. Very simple, very effective, and it didn't cost me much. I don't know what they're asking for it new. I will probably mount a boost gauge in order to get more reliable information as to max boost. I do feel that the Eaton responds more quickly and the engine breathes better.

Btt, weren't you saying that you were going to keep the truck stock? I think I remember an old post of yours. Did the bug catch you?
