I'd have to say it came from reruns of the Dukes of Hazzard or watching Nascar all through childhood. I'm gonna lean more towards that 69 Charger that seemed invincible.

1. Any V-12 Ferrari. Those guys have forgotten more about exhaust notes than most OEMs will ever learn. Must be wound out for full effect, though. Posers need not apply.

2. An IMSA GT normally aspirated V-8 circa late 80s/early 90s. The excessive gear whine combined with gutsy big bore sounds to make an American symphony. The in-car vids were the best.

A SBC 327 at 7500 rpms does it for me. A 5.0L stang with full exhaust, cams, and flowmaster 2 chambers comes in 2nd.

I've always been into cars...but I really fell in deep when my buddy got a MAC H-pipe and MAC headers w/ Flowmasters already on his 88 LX that I eventually bought. It was the meanest sounding thing I'd heard...before that I always LOVED the very hich pitched wine of an F1 racer at WOT running at Monaco.

I really had to stop and think about that for a minute. When I was growing up everyone had late Fifties through early Sixties cars that they turned into their own hot rods. The sweetest sound I remember most is that of my first small block '57 Chevy with Fuel Injection running all over my buddies' Fords and Mopars. There was nothing sweeter than a small block Chevy, Muncie 4-speed, dual exhaust and glass packs street racing on a warm summer night. I've had a lot of hot cars since then including my current '01 Lightning but the '57 Chevy really got me hooked. Hey, anybody out there have a cherry '57 they want to trade for my '01 Silver L with 9K miles on it ?

Hamburger Palace..hang'n out ..In comes a Chevy Big Block with a lumpity..lumpity..lumpity cam with the exhaust peppering the long tube headers .... clear the carb a little and hear how much muscle is waiting to explode....

Went on to be a BIG GTO / Trans AM fan until GM dumped the engine..saw an ad one day about this new Pickup from Ford
Ford ??? fell in love and damn it's a good reliable date driver, drywall hauler, corvette a** kicker and hansome son-of-a-gun.
FORD made me a believer. :^)

Sweetest exhaust note I've ever heard is a 1986 Yugo GV with a straight pipe.
