Red Indicator Light???

I'm a relatively new lightning owner (2004 model year). There is a tiny red indicator light on my dash to the left of the steering wheel that isn't covered in either the F-150 or Lightning manuals. Anyways, it blinks twice quickly every two seconds while the truck is in operation (used to do that only when when the truck was parked). Does anyone know what this indicator light signifies? Thanks.

You would think huh? The only alarm on the vehicle that I'm aware of is the standard Ford-installed one, as nothing about a secondary system was mentioned to me when I purchased the vehicle. I will try to follow up with the dealership I bought it from. Perhaps my mechanic can figure it out.

Or in Rob's case, 1 word is usually good for 7 or 8 pics

Per the comment about Lightnings not having standard alarm systems, my 2004 Lightning has an "Alarm" indicator light in the main dash gauge area that blinks when the truck is turned off and my standard keyless entry system includes an alarm button, so I am pretty sure I have a factory alarm.

That little white thing is the indicator light. It used to blink (along with the "Alarm" indicator in the gauge display) when the truck was turned off, but now it appears to be constantly blinking (twice quickly every 2-3 seconds).

That indicator is tied into your alarm system. I have the same thing on my 01L which I bought new in July of 01. I'm not totally sure how it works, but mine normally blinks all the time the vehicle is sitting - and when it's "armed" blinks rapidly and when I try and start it, the lights and horn go off.

I am sorry for not being as clear as possible before, we have a PATS system (Passive Anti Theft System) the keyword being passive. It is more of an immobilizer than a real ACTIVE alarm system, if you jimmy the door open there will be no alarm, if you break the glass or open the hood, again no alarm. all it has is a panic button and a flashing indicator.

what you have in that pic is absolutley NOT factory, but could possibly be an indicator for an aftermarket alarm, or some sort ot temp indicator for something, maybe even a switch chip indicator.

Thanks guys. Mine definately used to act like an alarm indicator light, but now blinks even when the truck is on and moving. I'll have to check into this further from the dealer and my mechanic/electrician.

Trace the wires comeing fromt the light, that will tell what it is going to and therefore what it is, It may be an Antitheft deterent light, not tied to the alarm but just there to flash so a theif will see an armed alarm system and hopefully just walk away........

Nice guess there Sport

mlentz01 it could be a Lojack, I have one in my L and have a red light there too. If it is you can push the light or a little square button under it (if you have one) and arm/unarm the system that way too, I think the key has to be on (I've done it a couple of times but forget)
