Cool Anything will race a Lightning

This morning I come up to a red light and an older cowboy gentleman pulls up next to me in a Supercrew dually with the powerstroke diesel. As the light is about to change he starts revving it up. I'm thinking WTF?? No sooner does the light turns and this guy hammers it and I might add, takes off really hard. Ok, so now I'm really thinking WTF???--A supercrew dually? I mean I'm just confused here. So I nail it and pull by him, but damn, I gotta say this caught me totally off guard and he sure did pull hard. I bet he had a chip and exhaust in it. I have heard that with that combo those things produce some incredible torque and horsepower numbers. Geez, what the heck is next I'll pull to a light and a bicyclist will try and run me??

I would say 9 of 10 people I talk to don't know the Lightning is fast. Even car guys, most of the them seem to think it is a Gen1 with a new bodystyle.

I've run into that sometimes too. I did try to get a race with a Z28-SS the other day, pulled next to him, gave him the race glare, he started to pull a little, I nailed it hard, took off, then let off because he didn't seem to be catching up... I kept slowing down more and more, and he would do the same, once I got to 50mph again, I gave up trying to let him get next to me again.

I don't know why he was afraid, would have been a good run.

You have to watch out for those dually's. There's one in town that has dual turbo's running tons of boost that runs in the high 12's.

Cool

with gas about $2.15 a gallon here in norcal....

if they want to race, and it isn't obvious who the winner will be; then they need to prove to me they are worthy....

or they can just give me the gas money up-front for wasting them....

Talking

I have heard the turbo-diesels with chip and exhaust will run 14s. I've seen one in an adjacent suburb literally smoke the tires for 80'...yes, it was incredible, and no, I'm not exaggerating.

They won't outrun an L, but it would be a sleeper, for sure.

Jordan, it will take only a few mods to get you into the high-13s, and if you can afford heads, cam, intake, exhaust, you will be deep into the 12s. That will take care of 95% of the L's out there.

Sure, a stock L will absolutely crush a stock, near stock 5.0 Mustang, and will also crush the 2v 4.6s, and beat most (but not all) 4v 4.6 Cobras. And while the L is an easy low-13 on _stock tires_ vehicle with $500 in mods, if you're beating every Mustang you race then there are a lot of slow/stock Mustangs where you live.

Jordan-
Nice truck. (I just checked out you website). I guess it's you that I've been seeing around town. Not too many trucks like yours up here. If you see me around town, give me a honk or the finger or something.

BTW-
What do y'all know about running propane with a diesel? I was talking to a guy at the track in Navasota and he said his old Dodge was on propane and that it is kinda like us being on the bottle. WTF?

Hmm. I have trouble getting people to race me. In particular, the c5 vettes. Although mustangs are usually good for some fun.
