Need help with a couple codes, please...

If it aint one thing, it's something else....drove to the mall, all was good. Come back outside, crank it and it idles like crap. The engine light comes on and the truck will not idle without going dead. It seems ok when you drive it but as soon as you stop at a light or something it dies. Anyway, limped it home and got out the XCAL II. 5 codes came up...

PO175
PO243
PO403
PO406
PO602

Anybody ever have these codes? I havent had them before and tried to search before asking but not what I was looking for. I checked the PCV lines. I have an oil seperator and i also noticed that it seems like it collected more than usual on the ride home. I cleaned it out yesterday and put about 150 miles on it today now it is half full. I usually get that over about a week.

Thanks for any help.

The P0175 is a rich code, the P0243 is the boost dump unplugged code, and the P0602 is from the tune. Lemme look up the other two, never seen those before....

Hmm, P0403 should not happen on your truck, that's an EEGR code (for vehicles with electric EGR). The other code is high EGR voltage reading back to the PCM from DPFE sensor.

I would check the DPFE sensor and make sure nothing is damaged or melted on the EGR tube. Both codes are EGR/DPFE related.

Bet your still none the wiser cos I sure ain't - Turbo ???
Have you got a piggby back chip ?
maybe you got a loose connector into the ECU

Hopefully something simple like a loose connector or vac line

Best stop at the store on the way home for a six pack or two

Thanks for the help, SAL & Ricki f-150,

I have the EGR delete. I have had it since last year and ran your tune, as well as, JLP's. Both Tunes were used without any problems and had the EGR delete included in the tune.

Could it be something in the tune? Can something go bad on that end? I currently use the chip johnny put in it after the build. It is a delta chip. I raced a couple days ago and probably ran 10 gallons of race gas through it. I switched back to the street side of the chip and filled it back up with 93. I drove about 70 miles before the problem occured. I had to drive it back home which is about 70 miles before I could check the codes.

I dont even know where to begin. Those are some odd codes...??

Again, thanks for the help.

Well Sal is your man.
He probally forgotten more than I know anyway.

Check you piggy back chip is clean, maybe remove it and clean with some suitable non static contact cleaner and re-fit.

There is alot of connectors in these trucks maybe you got some moisture in somewhere, dry out any suspect ones with contact cleaner and hair dryer.

Like I said Sal would be your best bet,
Don't know why you got a turbo code - perhaps it's just had a blip and needs a reset.

Oh check battery connections incase to got a bad one.

Oh just one point dosen't leaded fuel cause your exhaust sensors to fail premature ??

The oxygen sensors will usually fail with prolonged use of leaded race gas. I think when that happens you usually get a 174/175 code dont you? Lean Bank 1 & 2 .? In any event, I will probably start by unhooking the battery and driving it again. When the engine light comes on I will stop, run the code and start from there.

Thanks guys, guess I'll drag out that 6 pack now and get started. 6 pack first of course....right after I watch Florida stomp a mud hole in Ohio State...

OK...found the problem.

I am almost ashamed to to admit it. I dissconected the battery. I pulled out of the garage this morning and started down the road and about a mile into it the same thing started again, running like crap, the engine light on.....

About a mile from work I just happen to look down and see the LED light for the chip was not on. Well, that is odd. I have a Delta chip. It has 3 settings. The red light is the race tune, the green light is the street tune and no light is the stock tune.....bend over; insert foot!

I cant believe I didnt notice that earlier. My son must have kicked the switch when we got out at the mall. That would explain why it ran like crap when we came back out and fired it up. I checked under the hood for a vaccum line off and then ran the codes, tried to figure out why I would have an EGR code when I have the delete....duh It just didnt click I guess, it never even crossed my mind.

Anyway, I guess there should be something said for checking the most simple things FIRST...

BTW, GO GATORS...
