Another ebay scam in progress

Want to buy a whipple dirt cheap???Seller has no feedback, I e-mailed him 3 times for his phone and explanation of this "no-reserve" crazy price and he just emails me back(not through ebay) saying I can take it for $1300 !! I answer him back asking why he didn't have a "buy-it-now" price....still no reply. BTW, he has that "sir" thing and "regards" thing going on.I've seen this a few times before.Either the guys a complete fool, or he's dumb as a fox. Sounds like a big red flag to me.Check it out:

why do you think it's a scam?
I put stuff on eBay wih no reserve all the time, he cant use buy it now do to his low feedback. everyone started with zero feedback on eBay.

If you dont get the price you want you can kill the auction before it ends, it's a lot cheaper than using a reserve.

The guy use's Sir because he's French/Canadian.

This may or may not be a scam, but I never buy anything from low or no feedback folks. I may be missing out on a few good buys here and there, but I am also missing out on getting screwed.

On this one, I think that it looks real fishy.

My thoughts exactly, 03lightning! Every time I email this guy asking for him to call me or me to call him with an end-it-now price that he gave me, he changes the subject. And why didn't he have the buy it now price already in there. He tells me he needs the money asap.It doesn't add up, I tell ya. i've seen this before. Someones gonna get burned.

Tical84- Good point, another peice of the diabolical puzzle. Certified drunk- You've got to be foolish not to put a reserve price on anything worth that much! All I gotta say is: caveat emptor!!

Definitely a scam. I offered to pick it up as I live near the city indicated and this is the reply:

"Hello The price that i want is 1300$ US with shipping included no pick up because i`m a bussy man.
Thanks!!! "

He also has an OAL e-mail address which isn't common at all for Canada. I strongly believe that he picked a very small town in Canada that few people know about and this guy is really located in the US. Once you send him money he will disappear.

This guy should be reported. I am sure this is 100% a scam. This guy deserves the MOTHER OF ALL BEATINGS.

I agree. Would not waste my money. Big scam! Ebay will catch up with this one.

That is how they do stuff now.

As the internet evolves, eBay continues to strike a balance between preserving transparency and protecting our Community of members. eBay has decided to change how bid history information is displayed so bad guys cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to view Bidder User IDs on the Bid History page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, applied consistently to the Bid History page.

I thought that too. And for a while this WAS how it was being done. But I have recently seen ALL the bidders on many items I was viewing. What gives?? Bottom line is I'm glad to see that dirt bag gone (for now) and no one in the community was hurt.Like I indicated from the beginning, if it looks too good to be true....it probably is. Any Lightning enthusiest with the insight to choose a superior (and expensive) product like a whipple charger, should and will have the common sense to auction it off properly and in a inconspicuous manner. This can only result in a win-win situation. End of story.
