Hi borak,

Just so you'll know, the R9 Superchip Flip Chip is set up with a program in Position 1 that has the changes to transmission characteristics, and then mild engine tuning, so that you can still do towing up to the vehicle's 5000 lb. tow rating, for example. You can also use this mode in case you get a bad tank of gas, etc.

Then in Position 2, it's the full performance program, which you can run all the time. This gives you maximum flexibility, and is what most Lightning owners are using. In Position 2, that program has all the characteristics of our previous drag-race programs, but is set up so it can be driven on the street. When you are at full-throttle, you will not have torque converter lockup, for maximum power, but on part-throttle, you will have TQ lockup as you should, so you don't generate more heat in the transmission driving it like that on the street.

It is also available in our single-program Superchip, which would contain just the full performance program.

Please feel free to give us a shout if you would like to go over all the details, so you can give it some thought before making your decision, we're happy to help.

Good luck with your Lightning!

If your looking for something Great right from the start, Go with the JL chip...you won't be disappointed.
I had to perfect my current PSP programming (took a lot of tuning), and JL's actually runs stronger IMO

Spiro, have you tried the R9? That's what I have now, I was curious about the JL in comparison. Lloyd

LSChicago,
I have never tried the R9, but I know its a great street program. Johnnys(race) program is more tailored for the strip for use with 104 octane. He also has a street program...not sure how it compares to the R9,Im sure they both good.

ralleyone is correct regarding customer service. And I love Superchip's CS. Mike is amazing as already demonstrated on this thread.

Everyone has their opinion on the type chip to use. I use Sal's PSP 4 way chip and it cut a full second off my quarter mile times with street tires. Could not even think about launching in the strip/street tire mode.... up in smoke. So I have to get some drag radials to see what it really will do now. The truck now runs like a bat out of h... can't believe the difference. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Thumbs up

I am totally unhappy with Swanson's chip because now my truck makes so much power I can't get any traction off the line. J/K.
Actually I can't believe how much better the truck runs now, and I don't think you can beat Danny's service either. You can call the guy any time and he will drop what he's doing to talk to you, and he promises that if you have any problems he will make it right, he will not accept a dissatisfied customer. I know there some other great chips out there, but I don't think you can beat the combination of performance and service you get from Danny.

Check FAQ for chips or do a search. I have a Superchip R9 and love it, but there are plenty of good ones out there. Bear in mind the customer service end of it. Very important that whoever you buy from returns your calls promptly and has supportive literature explaining proper install, etc.
